The morning sun gleamed in through the window. Almost as if to foreshadow a peaceful day to come. However it was nothing but peaceful except for this moment. Natsu laid on his back with an arm tucked underneath Lucy's head with his fingers caught in her golden hair. She lied on her side with an arm loosely wrapped around his chest.
"Natsu! You didn't come home last night so I figured you be-" Happy entered the room but cut off his statement.
Natsu still slept as his partner burst in. Lucy's eyes shot open and she scrambled to cover her chest with the blanket.
"You two liiiiike each other."
"Happy you little shit get out of here!" Lucy exclaimed. "And I swear to god if you tell anybody about this I'll have your wings-"
"Oh I won't."
Lucy responded with a look of confusion.
"What's going on right now?" Natsu groggily said and rubbed his eyes as he awoke. "Happy when'd you get here?"
"You're awfully calm right now!" Lucy yelled at him.
"If you guys do what I say today I won't tell anybody what I saw."
"And what do you want?" Lucy groaned.
"Lots and lots of fish!"
Lucy and Natsu departed for the river while she let Happy hang out in her house for the day. She knew in the back of her mind that the little blue gossip would end up telling everyone anyway, but at least this kept him occupied for the moment. Also it's something to do for the day.
"We're gonna walk there right?" Natsu begged.
"It's only an eight minute ride on the train," Lucy sighed.
"Just hearing that makes me nauseous."
Lucy's legs became jelly from the long walk. At least the river was a refreshing environment to be in. The water was clear and the current was calm, a good change of pace from their usual jobs of fighting bandits or monsters. They sat down at the edge and waited for seafood to swim by. For the first thirty minutes or so they sat in silence, enjoying the tranquility of it.
"I still can't believe we won the Grand Magic Games," Lucy said. "We all were seven years behind everybody else."
"I never even heard of Sabertooth before then. Who knew there were two more dragon slayers."
Natsu's voice trailed off at the end of his statement. There was another moment of silence after that.
"Have you heard anything about Minerva?" Lucy asked.
"She disappeared after Erza beat her. Nobody's heard from her since."
"That's so strange⦠She might've been the strongest wizard there, I wonder what she's doing now."
"You might be right, but I gotta say you put up a great fight against her" he put on his classic wide smile.
Lucy started to blush and turned her head back towards the river.
"I didn't get to see your fight with Sting and Rogue, but I know you did great against two really strong wizards too."
Lucy's eyes looked back up at Natsu's. Their lustrous shine caused him to shudder a little. He became flustered and started to scratch his cheek with his index finger as he looked away.
"So why were you so against Happy telling people about us?" he asked.
"I don't know I guess it'd be nice if things were to calm down," Lucy followed that statement with a brief pause. "I'm just still a little shaken about everything that's happened. I mean it's not every day that I see my future self."
Lucy's tone trailed off at the end. Everyone in the guild asked her how she was doing after the whole Eclipse incident, she always said she was doing fine. Natsu knew different. She was one of the strongest people he had ever known, however this would cause anybody to break down. He's seen her cry for endless hours over how traumatizing it was for her. He's held and consoled her for entire nights. Worst of all, he himself has seen Lucy Heartfilia die.
He grabbed her hand tightly, surprising her. She tried to assure him she was fine. He responded by pulling her in close.
"Uh Natsu," Lucy stuttered.
"Yeah Luce."
"You got a bite."
Natsu frantically rushed to his fishing rod to try to reel it in.
"Lucy help me out!"
They struggled, heaved, Lucy scolded him a few times for his hand slipping off the rod and on to her chest. He also had the brilliant idea of breathing fire at the giant fish which he missed every time he attempted. Eventually they reeled it in.
"Oh man Happy's gonna be so excited when he sees this monster!"
After the agonizing trek back to her house carrying a seven-foot fish, there were two more guests in it.
"GRAY WHY ARE YOU NAKED AND ERZA GET OUT OF MY UNDERWEAR DRAWER!" Lucy screamed.
"I'm wearing boxers so technically I'm not naked," Gray nonchalantly stated.
"Gray and Erza stopped by lookin for you twoooo," Happy said with a snide tone.
"What have the two of you been up to lately?" Erza asked. "I feel as if you're hardly around the guild hall anymore."
Natsu started to rub the back of his head and Lucy put a hand on her neck and looked away. They started to babble about how busy they've been with either the celestial spirits or how Sting and Rogue wanted to meet or something. Lucy glared at Happy and he shrugged his shoulders. After explaining to Erza and Gray they were out fishing the two of them left.
"Happy you said you wouldn't tell anyone you little blue freak," Lucy muttered.
"I didn't they just came by and I said you were gone."
"Ooooooohhhh I see," Natsu said. "Let me guess. You want us to do more stuff for you still."
"Aye!"
