Lindsay sat on a blanket at the park and watched as her husband, Danny, played a few feet away from her with their daughter. She was so happy that she had them both in her life. They both were her whole world, and she couldn't imagine living without either of them. She loved them so much.
Next she looked at her boss and good friend Mac, who sat with Hawkes and Sid talking about a letter he'd received the other day. It was from Stella, saying she missed everyone and planned on a visit very soon. Her new job in New Orleans was very demanding, but thanks to Mac she was great at it. His training and guidance is why she was the detective she was today.
Sid agreed with what Stella had written, even though Mac didn't. The thing is, they were all good because of his guidance. They all really missed Stella, but Lindsay most of all. She liked Jo Danville, but she wasn't Stella.
Adam and Kendall were sitting with Jo who was unpacking the 4th of July picnic. Her kids were going to join them later because they were with their friends right now. They promised her they'd show up before the fireworks started. Jo seemed to be fitting in with the team, and she was a good addition to the team.
Don and Jess walked towards them, holding hands. Lindsay smiled at the love shining in their eyes. They were so in love, and had gone through so much after she'd been shot. They almost lost her and it opened Don's eyes how important she was to him. Lindsay saw a wedding in their future, and wouldn't be surprised if he proposed soon.
Danny placed Lucy in Lindsay's lap and sat down on the blanket behind her. He pulled her into his arms and kissed her neck. Today was a day to celebrate the birthday of America, but Lindsay also saw it as a day to celebrate being a part of something special...a family made of blood, but of friendship. These people were her heart sisters and brothers. The best kind of family, made of respect and love.
This was the perfect way to spend the 4th of July. She hugged her daughter and leaned back into her husband's embrace. This was the most perfect Independence Day, with family.

I hope that everyone in the United States has a safe and Happy 4th of July, celebrated with family both blood family and heart family. God Bless America.
