This is based off of KaizokuShojo's "Hit the Random Play Button" idea. Basically, you hit random on your MP3 and see what you get…

(The story doesn't have to be based on the song...)

If I Fall

(song by Tara MacLean)

It really is most dizzyingly high. One misstep would send the best of men to their death.

And the falls had done exactly that. Holmes, Sherlock Holmes, the very best of men, my greatest friend in the world, had gone over, locked in mortal combat with the worst scum of the earth.

And now I stood here, at the edge, amid the footprints scuffs of my friend and his enemy.

"Damn you Holmes! Why did you leave me behind?" I yell over the roar of the water. There is, of course, and will never be an answer. He is gone, lost to the churning waters and jagged rocks.

And with one step, I could join him. If I were fall, I could follow him. One more step…

A half step, and I teeter, hesitating.

If I fall, Mary will never forgive me. To leave her alone like this, with no explanation…

To leave the world with no explanation! If I fall, no one will ever know how the great Sherlock Holmes gave his life to rid the world of Professor Moriarty. I owe it to Holmes to tell them the truth. I owe it to Holmes to keep going, to get his message to Inspector Patterson, to return to London and the Strand.

And so I step back from the precipice, and begin to walk away. Then I turn back, ad walk right to the edge, the very edge.

"DAMN YOU HOLMES! I FORGIVE YOU!"

And with that I walk away, back to London, to tell the world.

Like it? I'm considering doing a Holmes version actually based on the song…
