Two sillouettes came to a silent halt as they reached the beginning of the sleek, looming bridge. The setting sun peeked over the trees nearby, and the road the two shadows were on was still and silent, holding its breath. One of the shadows, enveloped in warmth by the golden light, removed his red cap to reveal a mane of messy yet sophisticated hair. He blinked longly as he studied the other shadow's face, her face an expression of sadness and affection.

"Well...I guess this is goodbye," Black said, fiddling with his cap.

"I guess so," White replied, her whisper barely audible. She sighed and glanced at the nearby trees, trying to direct her focus away from Black's sad face, which made her feel worse.

"What is it?" Black asked. Concern glowed in his warm coffee eyes.

White fidgeted, still not looking up. A faint whisper escaped her lips. "It's just...I...I can't believe it's all over. All we've been through together: the places we've seen, enemies we've beaten, conversations we've had, jokes we've exchanged...all gone." She forced a smile as a cry escaped her. "Not to mention all the epic ads and commercials our Pokémon made together!"

Black let out a chuckle and tilted his head, carefully moving White's dark hair away from her unusually soft face, as if he was afraid he'd break her.

He then grew serious, fiery determination filling him as he felt determined to make White happy. He grabbed her wrists and looked into her blue eyes. He didn't like

"This isn't forever. We just need time to persue our dreams -mine as the Champion of the Pokémon League and yours to make Gigi a star. After that, we can see how far we've come!"

White blinked. "Yes but...I want to accomplish my dream alongside you, Black. Like we always have. I won't be used to being so alone."

"Me too," Black said. "But now that my debts are paid off I have to go serve the League by being the best Champion I can be." He paused. "Aw, shoot. I just might have to break more equipment, won't I?" Black and White laughed.

Their laughter died down and bittersweet silence followed.

"God this sucks. I hate goodbyes," she said, her voice trembling a bit.

"Me too," he sighed. "But you're amazing, White, and you don't need me."

The waves of the ocean below crashed gently.

"Farewell, Black."

"Goodbye, White."

With that, the boy turned around and slowly walked onto the behemoth bridge which appeared to White to swallow him up. He didn't turn back, not yet, fighting the urge. Longing welled up in both their throats, White helplessly watching him slowly fade into the distance.
