All of this has happened before, and it will all happen again.

But this time it happened in London, in a corner house on the quiet street of Bloomsbury. The home of the Darling family.

And Sherman Pan chose this place for there were people in the house who believed in him.

There was Mrs. Darling. She believed that Sherman Pan was the spirit of youth.

But Mr. Darling... Well, Mr. Darling was a very practical man.

The boys, however, Lincoln and Bamm Bamm believed Sherman Pan was a real person and made him the quote-unquote "very awesome superhero" in all of their nursery games.

Elsa, the only daughter, not only believed, she was the supreme authority of Sherman Pan and all of his marvelous adventures in Never Never Land.

One night, Mr. and Mrs. Darling had to left for the night for a party.

"George, dear, please do hurry" called Mrs. Darling. "We mustn't be late, you know."

"Janey, unless I find my cufflinks, we don't go to the party" Mr. Darling replied.

Upstairs in the nursery, Lincoln and Bamm Bamm were playing their usual game of Sherman Pan vs Captain Brine.

"My turn to play Captain Brine, Bamm Bamm" said Lincoln.

Well, Bamm Bamm didn't talk very much being only two years old, but he sure loved playing.

Then, they pulled out their 'swords' (actually a stick and Bamm Bamm's club) and they started to fight.

"Curse you, Sherman Pan!" shouted Lincoln in a deep voice.

"Bam bam!" shouted Bamm Bamm, swinging his club. "Brine give up!"

"Never! I'll teach ya to cut off me hand!"

Elsa was passing by when she saw Lincoln holding a clothes hanger in his right hand.

"Lincoln, it wasn't the right hand" she chuckled. "It was the left."

Her brother realized his mistake and switched his weapons into different hands.

"Oh, yeah, thank you, Elsa" he said.

Elsa smiled and then started fixing her bed.

She was responsible for a child her age, she was the same age as Lincoln (by three months). But since she was the first child born, Mr. Darling wanted Elsa to grow up a little.

Lincoln and Bamm Bamm continued to play.

"Bam bam!" shouted Bamm Bamm.

"Insolent youth! I shall slash you to ribbons!" growled Lincoln.

Bamm Bamm swung his club so hard that accidentally hit Lincoln in the face.

"Ouch! Careful, Bamm Bamm" frowned Lincoln. "That was almost my face."

"Sorry."

The game soon resumed.

"Ha! You'll never leave the ship alive, boy!" said Lincoln in his Brine voice.

Elsa then noticed something at the window.

It was black and thin as paper. It was a shadow. Sherman Pan's shadow!

He must have got himself stuck at the window last night Elsa thought to herself.

Quickly, she placed the shadow into the drawer and went back to getting herself ready for bed.

"I'll silt your gizzard!" shouted Lincoln. "Aha! I've got you."

Lincoln playfully grabbed Bamm Bamm, who laughed.

"Wait, Bamm Bamm" Lincoln said. "I don't think Sherman Pan laughs when he's captured."

"He don't?" asked Bamm Bamm.

"I don't think so."

Realizing what he was doing, Bamm Bamm swung his club.

"BAM BAM!"

The club gently hit Lincoln in the stomach. He groaned as if he were in pain and fell to the ground.

"Please less noise, boys" said George, upon entering the room.

He looked through all the drawers, still looking for cufflinks.

"Oh, hi, Dad" smiled Lincoln.

"Bam bam bam!" shouted Bamm Bamm.

Hearing this, George gasped.

"Bamm Bamm, see here..."

"No, he didn't mean you, Dad" answered Lincoln. "You see he's Sherman Pan and I'm Captain Brine."

"Yes, yes, of course. Have you seen my cufflinks?"

"Cufflinks?"

"Yes, the gold ones."

Lincoln may be not be grown, but he understood what cufflinks meant.

"Bamm Bamm, the buried treasure" Lincoln whispered to his brother. "Where is it?"

The little caveboy only shrugged his shoulders.

"The map then. Where's the treasure map?"

At that moment, George found something.

"Oh, my!" he cried. "My shirt front!"

Hearing this, Lincoln panicked as George went to look in the mirror.

"Dad, no!" he shouted.

But it was too late, George saw that his shirt front was used as a treasure map.

"No..." he gasped. "Aah!"

Soon, Jane entered the room.

"George, what happened?" Jane asked.

Bamm Bamm was about to speak when Lincoln interfered.

"It was us, Mom" he said. "But it's only chalk, really. It was from the story. And Elsa said..."

George's eyes widened when he heard Elsa's name mentioned.

"Elsa? Stories?" he asked. "I might have known."

He then ran to the doorway, calling to his daughter.

"Elsa, come in here. EL-SA!"

"Yes, Papa?" Elsa answered before she noticed his shirt.

"Why, Papa! What have you done to your shirt?"

George groaned, annoyed and embarrassed of what's happening to him.

"Oh, George, it comes off" Jane said, cleaning the shirt front.

"That's no excuse, Janey" George replied.

Then, he turned to Elsa as she and the boys started cleaning the room.

"Elsa, haven't I warned you? Stuffing your own brothers' heads with those silly, childish stories."

"They aren't silly!" protested Elsa.

"I say they are. Captain Brook! Sherman Pirate."

"Sherman Pan, Papa."

"Pan! Pirate! Poppycock! Absolute poppycock!"

It was only when Jane briefly broke the argument.

"Oh, George, now you've hurt the children's feelings" she cooed.

George sighed and then calmed down, trying hard not to lose his temper.

"I'm sorry, Jane, but Elsa's growing up" he said to his wife. "And it's high time she had a room of her own."

"Papa!" gasped Elsa.

"Daughter, I truly am sorry, but this is your last night in the nursery."

"No, Dada, no!" cried Bamm Bamm.

George stormed off, but felt guilty inside.

"But, Mama, I don't want to grow up" Elsa said worriedly.

"Don't worry about it" Jane replied.

Lincoln was disappointed, crossing his arms.

"He called Sherman Pan an 'absolute poppycock'" he said.

Jane patted her son's head.

"I'm sure he didn't mean it, Lincoln. Your father was just upset."

Elsa placed Bamm Bamm into bed, then noticed the cufflinks George was looking for and handed them to Jane.

"Now, children, don't judge your father harshly" she said. "After all he loves you very much."

Lincoln climbed into bed, but Elsa pulled the drawers to check on something inside.

"Shouldn't you be in bed, dear?" asked Jane.

"Sorry, Mama" Elsa answered. "I found this shadow that belongs to him."

"Who's this him?"

"Sherman Pan. It was trapped in the window, but I... I tucked it away until he comes back for it."

Yawning, Elsa climbed into bed and fell asleep.

A surprised Jane was unsure, but she didn't want to ruin Elsa's innocent childhood.

"Yes, of course" she said nervously. "Goodnight dear."

George and Jane left the house, ready for the party they're supposed to go to.

"Oh, George, you think the children will be safe?" asked Jane.

"Safe? Of course" assured George.

Jane was unsure and stared at George with sad eyes.

"Dash it all, Jane, don't look at me like that" he said.

"You shouldn't have spoken to Elsa in that manner" Jane said. "She's still a child."

"I know, but sooner or later, people have to grow up and be practical."

Jane nodded slowly as she and her husband walked down the street.

Unknown to them, there were two figures watching the two in the dark and then they starting leaping down the roof and looked through the nursery window.

To be continued...
