1Hinata's heart was pounding. These were her final moments in this world, and she had been given the chance to live. She ended her brief existence protecting the one she loved. Her blood was splattered across the ground, a puddle in spite of the pouring rain. Thunder and lightning pounded in the background as she lay on the ground, gasping for breath. It had been an all-out battle with Orochimaru and the other shinobi from Otogakure. Naruto was completely helpless, dangerously low on Chakra and out of breath. Sasuke, in a rage and almost out of energy himself, gave one final attempt at killing Naruto, to prove himself strong enough for his reasons. Hinata, with one last swift move, jumped in the kunai's way, and it hit her...right in the center of the heart. She aimed a Jyuuken move right at Sasuke's heart and he fell backwards, blood spewed from his mouth before he passed out. She fell to the ground, Naruto staring in horror, awe, and shock. Now she was only desperately clinging to her life with every last bit of her strength. Right by her side was the only person that she had ever really admired: Uzumaki Naruto.
"Hinata...why...?" Naruto breathed.
"I...I couldn't...I had to..." Hinata breathed, most of the breath knocked out of her, "You could have died...Naruto-kun...I didn't want that..."
Naruto could do nothing but simply gaze at the shy but courageous girl that lay before him, dying. He had always known Hinata had special feelings for him, but he thought she would not go as far as this...
"You have a dream, Naruto-kun...something to keep you alive and going. I have no reason to remain here on this Earth..."
"That's not true!" Naruto cried out, "You wanted to change yourself, become more powerful, push yourself past your limit so you could prove yourself as a true member of the Hyuga clan, and change your destiny...you didn't have to...!"
Hinata gasped for breath again, this time blood dripped out of her mouth as she let out a horrifying cough.
"I don't have much time left in this world, Naruto-kun..." Hinata whispered with her last bits of breath, with a slight weak smile on her face, "Go on, fufill your dream...I just...never got the chance to tell you, Naruto-kun...I..."
The last word trailed off as the light left Hinata's white eyes, her eyes closed gently and her grip on Naruto loosened. Naruto looked on in horror as the only girl who had only ever had true feelings of admiration towards him died right before his eyes. Naruto couldn't help himself as he felt hot tears stream down his face, nearly invisible in the hard rain. He was now down on all fours, his face pointed towards the ground, his hands stained by Hinata's blood. He trembled, shook by the hard rain and the feeling of overwhelming sadness. Suddenly, nothing else in the world mattered. His dreams of becoming Hokage...all were just a vague blur at the moment, clouded by his emotions. The painful screams of the still on-going battle began to fade as though it were far-off in the distance. The scenery slowly started to become a black nothingness. His pain had disappeared from his body, and he seemed to at last be at peace for the first time in his life...
