He is going to kill her. Chaya, if that's even her real name, is a dead woman…or…alien. She may have everyone else fooled, may even have Major Sheppard falling over himself to impress her, but Rodney knows there's more to her than she's letting on.

He just needs proof.

…Which is why he's perched up in this tower watching her flirt with Sheppard. i Flirt /i ! That hussy!

Taking a deep breath, Rodney reminds himself that his intense desire to dial any gate in the galaxy and push Chaya through the wormhole is purely because he doesn't trust her. It has nothing whatsoever to do with how she kept hanging off of Major Sheppard.

Nothing. At. All.

Peering through the binoculars again, he returns all his attention to their moonlit…picnic.

----------

Sheppard wonders, not for the first time, if perhaps Chaya is weakening in her resolve. Has anything that he's shown her made her change her mind about helping them? Because if not, he would like to know so he could stop wasting his time, and stop defending her from Rodney's accusations.

"I…wasn't really truthful with you about something."

The way she says that makes the lazy grin on John's face disappear. Maybe McKay was right about her…

"On Proculus, when I told you I did not feel lonely – coming here and being with you…it reminded me of what it was like not to be alone."

A smile instantly surfaces as John stands up and walks a few steps away. That's the best news he's heard all day! He could definitely work with that!

"What?"

Laughing, he answers, "I mean, nothing. It's just that this is the first time I've been in a romantic situation with a woman from another planet and it just strikes me as really…

"Wrong?"

"No! God, no. Just – Just…funny. I'm sorry. I just thought that I would…"

"You said it yourself: We're both human."

"Yes. We are." John strolls closer again. "And I'm really glad you didn't say 'family,' otherwise I'd have to leave." Just for good measure, he gives her his best cocky smirk.

"Then don't."

He sits down beside Chaya, and leans in. "I'm not going anywhere." His hands lift up to hold her neck and he closes the distance between them.

In the distance he hears a high-pitched shriek, and quickly ends the kiss to look around. John doesn't see anything, but swears he can hear the words 'hussy' and 'bitch' echoing off the walls.
