Hey people! My dad bought a whole bunch of Krispy Kremes the other day, and I couldn't get the box shut, so I decided to write about it in CJ form. Lol.

Don't worry, I'm still working on Back to the Basement, and I'm sorry for how long the updates are taking. I'm still a bit stuck, but it's mostly that I just don't have time. The writing-in-class thing isn't working so well now. (It's like the teachers actually expect us to pay attention or something...lol) I'll try and get chapter 9 up as soon as I can, then I think there's only one more chapter to go, and that's the end of the Basement fics. At least I think so. I have another full-length story in mind after that. Anyways, on with the fluffyness...

Krispy Kremes

I hummed to myself as I made my way cheerfully past Dr. Macy's office towards autopsy one. Then I stopped and did a double take, moving a few paces backwards, my head tilted as I peered through the window. I spotted it instantly. A large box bearing the Krispy Kreme logo was sitting on Dr. Macy's desk. My eyes widened and my mouth began watering as I stared, and then quickly looked around to see if anyone was watching. The hallway was empty. I tip-toed my way inside and up to the box. I could almost taste the sugary goodness inside, and wondered what type they were. Chocolate frosted with sprinkles, or perhaps filled with lemon or raspberry jam, or even just the original glazed kind. I licked my lips as I thought about it, and then turned my head around quickly to see again if anyone was around, gently lowering my hands to the lid. I would just look, that was it.

Slowly and carefully, I pulled the cover free, and then let out an almost silent groan of longing. I bent my head and took a whiff of the tantalizing aroma. Each perfectly round and plump confection was coated with a thick layer of what was undoubtedly maple frosting; my absolute favorite. I looked around yet again, and then quickly and quietly lowered the index finger of my right hand to the edge of one of the donuts and scraped away a bit of the light brown frosting, bringing it to my mouth.

Delicious.

Then, suddenly, I heard footsteps coming down the hallway, drawing nearer. I panicked and quickly made to stuff the lid back on. But as I tried to push it closed, one of the corners stuck. I tried to force it down, but succeeded only in crumpling the cardboard. The footsteps were coming closer. With shaking hands I frantically pulled the lid back off, rotated it, and tried again, to no avail. It stuck in a different corner, and simply refused to cooperate. I turned as the footsteps came through the doorframe, and saw Jordan standing there with a stack of paperwork, as well as a scowl. Her expression changed as she spotted me, standing there guiltily.

"Hi," I said in what I hoped was a casual voice.

"Hey Nige," she said brightly. "Seen Garret?"

"Nope," I said just as brightly, but my smile faded as I saw her glance past me, and then do a double take of her own. Her eyes widened.

"Are those…" She set down her load of paperwork and made her way forwards. Uh oh.

"It's not what it looks like," I began hastily, trying to think of an excuse for why I was standing in Garret's office next to a box of Krispy Kremes with the lid half off. I moved out of the way as Jordan took a peek inside.

"They sure look like Krispy Kremes to me Nige," she said, looking up. I stared guiltily back; like a boy caught with his hand in the cookie jar. Then she smiled. I watched, a bit shocked, as she reached inside, pulled out one of the donuts, and took a big bite out of it. "Mmm…maple." She winked, and then walked off, donut in hand. I stared after her. Then I blinked, shrugged, and took one for myself.
