Author's Note: I FINISHED MY YEAR 12 EXAMS! I'M FINISHED SCHOOL FOREVER! And as a result of this, I can now give you this story, which I've head in my head for ages.
Dinner, a movie
They decide to meet after work ends. It gives Jack time to get ready, which he definitely feels he needs. He can't remember feeling this nervous in a long time. He hasn't been on a proper date in a long time. Did he cut himself shaving? Is his hair okay? Is his suit okay? Ianto, of course, always looks good in a suit.
Jack picks Ianto up from outside his flat. They walk to the restaurant, the night air reflecting the relaxed atmosphere between the two men. Despite his initial worries, Jack finds being with Ianto the most natural thing in the world.
The restaurant isn't extremely posh, but Jack only managed to get in because he knows someone who works there. Ianto looks hurt. Jack assures him that it was strictly platonic, and that he's not thinking of anyone else right now but him. He puts a hand on Ianto's shoulder, and Ianto smiles.
Over dinner they talk, about nothing in particular. Outside of the work environment, they can truly get to know each other as human beings. And while Jack is careful not to reveal too much about his past, he reveals enough to show Ianto his feelings and intentions. They enjoy themselves immensely, but soon they have to go in order to catch the movie.
Horror films don't really shock either of them anymore, considering what they see in their day-to-day lives. But that doesn't stop them from mutually taking the other's hand as they watch. At one point Jack nervously extends his arm over Ianto's shoulders, and smiles when Ianto doesn't object.
They are outside Ianto's flat. Jack thanks Ianto for agreeing to come. Ianto asks Jack in for some of his famous coffee. Jack leans in to make it very clear that coffee is the last thing on his mind...
"Harkness!"
"Did you hear that?" asks Ianto. Jack shakes his head, and continues to lean in...
"HARKNESS!"
Jack's eyes snap open. In front of him is the Master, holding his laser screwdriver. He points it at Jack menacingly.
"You will pay attention when I'm torturing and killing you!" he orders. Jack rolls his eyes.
"I'm so sorry sir, please forgive me," he says sarcastically. "By all means, continue."
As the Master uses his laser screwdriver, Jack closes his eyes again, and smiles.
