I don't own Castle.
Goodbye Nikki. Goodbye Nikki. Goodbye Nikki
Rick watched the fiery light dance on the reflection of the windows surrounding her apartment. He dropped his phone
"Kate..."
He starred at the charred remains of the brick building, searching for any sign of movement. He saw nothing
He started running, faster then he had ever run in his life. Most new yorkers on this street were still listening to their music, or still starring at the spectacle of her burning apartment. Castle didn't need to look, he didn't want to look.
He ran up the stairs, every step seemed to bring a memory back, each step, he remembered something about her.
Goodbye Nikki?
He burst through the door and saw horror, everything she owned, destroyed.
Goodbye Nikki?
He saw movement towards the bathroom, he raced over. There had to be a chance. The protagonist never died. Nikki wouldn't die. Nikki couldn't die, it's not how he would've written it.
It couldn't be.
He saw her, lying there, in the bathtub, even in such a time he could appreciate how beautiful she was.
Rick moved closer to the slightly burned bathtub and saw Kate cough.
She coughed
She's alive.
And in that moment, Castle new she was alive, and that was all that mattered
"Kate!" She looked up slowly and saw who it was, she smiled with delight, and then realized she was in a bathtub, naked.Fluttered she said,
"Castle!"
He turned around, but still smiling,
The funeral was dismal, the sun beat overhead, creating a hot sticky day. It was all washed away with their tears though.
They stood next to each other solemnly, occasionally there eyes would dart to each other, searching for a glimpse of happiness in the misery of the day.
Captain Roy Montgomery
Husband
Father
Leader
With tears in their eyes, the police men and women of the NYPD saluted their captain for the last time.
It was then when Becket fell to the ground, clutching her stomach.
Rick watched in horror as she went down, kneeling next to her.
"Kate, I love you!"
She looked up at him in surprise, but Castle knew, that from now on everything would be okay.
But that's not how he would have written it.
