Film Making
Based on the 'General Prologue' from The Canterbury Tales
Written by Ena "Drakena" D.
It was the late 1990's in the country of New Zealand,
making a huge hit movie was in film maker demand.
The crew got together to discuss their plot,
they wanted to make a film that will excite a lot.
Ideas came that the film should be based on a great book,
all around, the crew agreed and the idea they took.
The book they chose was Tolkien's Lord of the Rings mythology,
a saga that came before the Star Wars trilogy.
Rumors spread that if the progressing film was good,
it shall be one of the biggest films in Hollywood!

The film was lead by a great Kiwi Director indeed,
for he had big hopes that the film will succeed.
He was a short, pudgy, but brilliant man,
ever since he was eighteen, he was a huge Tolkien fan.
The director was a shaggy-haired, bearded fellow,
his sneakers dirty, shirt sweat stained and his shorts yellow.
Setting on his glasses with a megaphone in hand,
the peoples of Middle-Earth were at his command.
Peter Jackson was the director's name,
he will direct Lord of the Rings in the film making game.

The Screen writer, was sometimes camera shy,
but to get the job done, she would always try.
To make Lord of the Rings more than plain fantasy,
she said: "It needs a strong sense of reality."
Making the book into a film was a big dream,
she even provided the Ring wraiths' scream.
Fran Walsh her name was, a writer of skill,
when editing the script, she had plot-holes to fill.

An Illustrator there was, who came from Switzerland,
He packed his pencils and pens, and headed for New Zealand.
His painting and sketches appeared in calendars and books,
for the film, his job was to describe Middle-Earth's looks.
Adjusting his glasses, and whipping out pencil and pad,
he made design sketches that were not so bad.
The Illustrator designed Hobbits and the Shire,
even paintings of the Balrog, a demon of fire.

The Props Manager, head of the Weta Workshop,
his team could make graphics, sets and props non-stop.
He looked through sketches and models of creatures,
and discuss all the changes needed in the features.
He said to the Director: "We'll make props to the max,
special weapons like the sword, the bow and the axe."
With his team, he made Middle-Earth armor,
and props were made hour by hour.

Then there was the Lead Actor, talent so true,
his face so sweet, and his eyes sapphire blue.
His role was a Hobbit who had to do one thing,
go to Mount Doom and destroy the One Ring.
As he joined up with the rest of the cast,
he was in a film greater than the ones in his past.
In this film, he was on a great quest,
his acting skills would be put to the test.

Like in the story, they formed a fellowship,
making the film will require teamwork and friendship.
Everyone was gathered to discuss where to start,
they wanted the film to have dramatic art.
The Director cleared his throat and everyone was still,
"Alright," the Director said, "lets practice the drill."
End Note: Silly poem wasn't it? It was a school assignment, I thought I
would display it online. Lots of the poem is based on the information from
the DVD.
