Chapter One : The Chosen One
In all the world there is one girl,
chosen to fight the vampires, demons, and the forces from beyond the Veil.

Buffy slowly made her way up the steps the large mansion that belonged to her step-father Giles. She had received a call while at college from the police claiming that he had been murdered. She had caught the first flight available to Rhode Island from Sunnydale. When she arrived at the house, she saw that there were police cars all around. Inspector Pryce met her at the door.
" I'm so sorry about all this." The Englishman took his glasses and wiped them. " It's just that, well, we needed you to tell us if this man is your step-father." a pause. " It's all so strange. It looks as though a lot of force was used, but there's no sign of intrusion."
Buffy refused to look at the Inspector. " Couldn't you just look at dental records?! Couldn't you-"
"No! We can't!" Pryce cut her off. " There's no head."
With that Buffy turned to look at the body lying on the library floor...and gasped. " Yes, that's Giles."
" You're sure?"
Buffy nodded. " He's wearing our family ring." a pause. "Are...are there any suspects." The man shook his head. " There must be something in this old house that will tell me what happened. I'm not leaving Rhode Island until I figure this out!"

" Don't worry Dawnie, I'll be back soon." The blond hung up the phone. She went over to the library. " This is where they found Giles." a pause. " He always loved the library." She continued walking. " The clock's not working." She began to fiddle with the clock in an attempt to fix it. When the hands hit three thirty-three, one of the walls in the corner suddenly disappeared.
"A secret passageway?" She walked into it and ended up in a study. " Creepy..." She walked over to the cluttered desk and picked up a giant book. She started reading...
