Teddy Lupin
The young boy marveled at the beautiful item before him. Its golden frame curled in odd patterns and danced around a glimmering polished mirror. Words were etched over the arch of the frame, but Teddy Lupin payed no attention to them. They made no sense, anyhow. All that concerned him was the reflection pouring out at him.
At first, the image was blurry. But as he stepped toward it, everything came into focus. They did. Once two unrecognizable foggy figures, two adults formed into a crisp clear view. The woman was sitting down beside his cross-legged body, while the man was kneeling down at his shoulder.
They looked familiar to him right away. Her colourful mess of hair stood out just as much in this picture as Teddy did roaming the school corridors. That wasn't the only thing similar about them - she had a michievous glint shining in her eyes the same way Teddy often caught himself with. But the way she looked at the other man and Teddy with so much love and warmth sent shivers down his spine.
The man was less extravagent, his hair a plain light brown and his face pale. His overall look was shabby, with various scars scattered along his somewhat prematurely aged face. In his bony hands he gripped a leather bound book, on finger still held inside on the page he had previously been reading. Unlike the woman, his eyes glowed with intelligence - but that same haunting affection was present.
Where they sat appeared to be a small, cozy living room. Two armchairs and a couch stood behind them, but they had chosen to sit on the floor - in front of a blazing fireplace. Both adults raised their arms to place them over Teddy's shoulders and around his waste, encasing him in the warm hug he had never been able to reach.
From outside the glorious reflection, the real Teddy Lupin clutched his waste so tightly that he was afraid he might just burst. But it was the closest he had to what this mystical mirror showed him. So he settled for it, clamping his eyes shut in an attempt to block the world out. He was sat in that beautifully decorated room, he was warm and joyful and had no worries in the world. Most importantly, he was in his parent's arms once again.
