Prologue: The idol of the source Yamamoto, Hikari died 1920 and was born in 1991. An angel in public and an abuser in private. A shinto priest she abused in private, a kind man whose body was bruised whose kindness fell eventually out and gave way to a bitter resentment of his situation. Cursed Yamamoto her throat melted her deceitful words, her physical presence were extinguished. Not before she let out vile words directed at every living thing on earth. Yet her bellicose nature, malice, and misanthropy touched a certain source. She reborn is given a second chance to spread the opposite of light to a deceptive bright society.
Rio Saishi a particular girl, also a particularist. A modern magical girl in her transformed state. She appears to be younger than her actual self at 17. Now clad in fine clothes for a summer evening, a slightly frilly short-sleeved serafuku based on her old school uniform a short skirt with shorts. Loafers with loose socks. Nothing that would get in the way on the ground or air. Though she might choose to manifest a simple hat of her choice at will. In the air such things blow off too easily at her usual pace in the sky. As she is flying
The girls life defined is defined by the organization she is a part of. The modern day animists or post Shōwa animists. Their name defines the rough, date of their establishment during the Shōwa period. The girls numbering only in the couple of dozen avoid broadcasting their existence to the world.
Their magic bases its properties off of curses and hexes, in their transformed states the source, colors, and preserves their forms at their induction. Of average height at 15 and in such plain clothes, she wouldn't stand out in this state. If, it weren't for the natural looking spring green hair, unnaturally perfect complexion, and silver iris. Across her pupils are the maltese cross, her symbol.
Rio's mission started earlier today.
「Goodbye matriarch! I will be back with the scouting report in as quick as lightning!」 I spoke while running out from the modern Animists branch. Running into an alleyway. I hid away from the public eye reciting the mantra. My hand grips my symbol. The cross maltese on the necklace. 「I entrust myself to the source. The darkness that illuminates!」 The dark marble envelops my figure the scent of blood fills my sense of smell! My mouth and throat light on fire! 「Lift me from the light of science and reveal the darkness of my soul!」 When I cry out the mantra is finished the marble dissolves, and I have taken on my magical form. I breath out. Taking a slow pace. The transformation is complete. Now, … let's finish this damn mission so the matriarch will finally shut up. Where is- 「Lady Saishi. I shall lead the way.」 The black fairy spoke. My companion born of my blood. The only one I can stand straightforward always to the point. She is my second set of eyes.
They take flight, based on my thaumaturgical basis. Flight is simply moving oneself not in accordance to physics, but based on resisting reality expectations. Writing oneself into sky then displacing gravity as a concept. The source corrodes the ability for reality to reject these ideals. Like energy weakening the bonds between atoms.
The two of us depart from the ground and fly beyond the modern society. The glass buildings, the rivers of cars, and trucks. They melt together. I cannot understand how I lived in this. Not only that, how does my other half still withstand their filth. They don't really listen, their words are shallows, they force their desires onto others, and subsume one another in petty squabbles. They never listened and now I fly above them truly a matter of karma. I was obviously chosen by the source to carry out the matriarch's will and deliver the wicked souls back to the source.
The girl sets out beyond the grasps of modern society. Her companion a dark, mute fairy besides her. She comes upon a valley, below her flying form spreads a magical barrier far beyond the human power to generate. Encapsulating herself in magic and enshrouding her form is a form of enclosure. That would make passing into barriers like this one akin to that of a virus penetrating a cell membrane. Easy on entry, damaging on exit.
Ah, there it is the enclosed space. I thought the matriarch was exaggerating. I was getting tired of the flight. The feeling of the winds is just getting annoying. How intelligent. I possess the ability to enclose and shut. If I just surround myself in magic I should be able to absorb myself into this barrier. I will probably damage it on the way out. I blanket myself in magic. A seal that if taken too far will crush me. I enshroud the black fairy as well. Then upon contact with the barrier the seal is taken in with me inside. It is a strange feeling a disembodiment perhaps. The magic shifting around to take in mine. The barrier absorbing that around me. Perhaps I almost did lose physical form. Regardless I am still here. I squint my eyes. The sun has began set and now the valley I find myself in is darkening. I should find a location to settle down for the night. It would be below me to just hide in the forest overnight so to find a settlement.
After passing through the Hakurei Barrier. The magical girl is set on survival in a foreign location while still fulfilling her mission. Her sense of duty is impeccable perhaps it is a product of the condition of the source? I do know that upon their contractment, these girls change greatly upon the incantation of malice.
Let's move along. The breeze in my hair. I notice something the black fairy draws my attention to. Another fairy? Hmm. I summon up a barrier around the small insect. That usually translucent black has become more opaque. Perhaps the magic here is denser. I then pull the entrapped fairy closer. 「Hey what are you doing?! Are you a youkai?」 Youkai? Huh. 「I in truth am a human. What will you be, a fairy?」 That little bugs reply? 「Yes. Now let me go!」 I tap the sphere, almost looks like the black marble. I shrink the enclosed space further pretending to control it with my fingers. Let's make it uncomfortable for this bug. It pushes back feebly against the spheres magic walls. 「What wonderful wails, Tell me. Where is the nearest humans?v The panicked fairy replies frantically. 「Down there!" It points in a direction. 「Stop I don't want to be crushed!」 I should think it. 「Truly, thank you and goodbye forever.」 I push the enclosed space away and crush it. The fairy is gone. Quickly and painless. If something is lower than a human it won't matter.
I won't trust that insect. I glance around at the general direction the fairy points out. There is indeed village there, however that might be a trap. It could be a youkai village. I'll just fly beyond it for now.
This is my teaching of humanity. You can't trust a dolphin, insect or a dog to know a safe place for a human. If anything is below a human it can be treated as a disposable object, as the source cannot make use of them.
Saishi flies past the human village, towards a mountain. Her thoughts are that of making an encampment on the cliff side. Yet that idea is quickly interrupted. Several wolf tengu intercept her flight.
「Eh, what is this?」
A/N This is final edition of this capture. While writing this I realized that I had been trying to tie in a much too large story that cannot just be written in. I was writing from out of canon into canon. I may try to write a new story with a much narrower scope and I will try to figure out what POV I will write it from.
