Parker was smiling. This was not an unusual occurrence, to be sure, but it was driving Nathan Ford absolutely insane. She had her usual bowl of cereal—again, not atypical—and in between bites she would flash that crooked, sly, Parker smile. It shouldn't have bothered him. But it did. Because her posture was relaxed as it customarily was, and she looked adorably devious as she customarily did, and when she spoke the words were socially awkward as they customarily were, but there was one thing that was most certainly not customary. Such as the fact she was there, looking as she always did, on his couch. She was lounging on his couch, acting like it was not completely abnormal.
And he liked it.
"You buy disgusting cereal, Nate," she said.
Why did he like it?
"Excuse me?"
"You buy disgusting cereal. You should get some Lucky Charms for the next time I come over."
And then she was gone.

Parker came back on the same day in the following week.
"You didn't get my cereal," she said, jolting him awake with her accusatory words.
Nate groaned.
"Parker," he mumbled tiredly, "why are you here?" Nate looked at the clock, and added, "at 3:57 A.M.?"
She grinned.
And then she was gone.

She reached for a box of Lucky Charms on the grocery store shelf, but his hand enclosed around hers before she could pick it up.
"Why did you come last week, Parker?" He needed to know.
She shrugged nonchalantly.
"I was out of cereal, and I knew you wouldn't mind if I came by."
"How would you know that?" he pressed.
"You're in love with me," she stated simply.
Fin.
