Sincerely, James Potter

A/N: Hello everyone! I decided for my first fanfiction, I'd do something short and simple. Reviews are much appreciated!

"Lily, I think your Hogwarts letter is here," said Mrs. Evans from the kitchen. Lily looked at her with a puzzled look.

"It can't be," said Lily, making her way towards the kitchen. "I got my letter two days ago. I was telling about how I was Head Girl, remember?"

"Oh. Well, there's an owl at the window, and I'm ninety-nine percent sure it's for you."

Lily opened the window, and the owl flew into the room and landed on the counter. It dropped one envelope that said "Lily Evans" in simple handwriting on it. After dropping the letter, it flew out the window. Wonder who it's from, thought Lily.

She ran up to her room and opened the letter. She soon smelled the scent of parchment. Lily started to read the letter.

Evans,

She blinked. None of her friends started off a letter to her with Evans. And she was pretty sure none of the Hogwarts staff would address her like that.

Evans,

Don't rip up this letter. Or, don't rip it up right now, you can tear it to pieces when you're done reading it, if you like.

So, it's me, Potter. You know, James Potter. That guy you hate. Me.

Anyways, you're probably wondering how I know where you live. Let's just get this straight, I don't, but Remus's owl does.

Speaking of our mutual friend. Remus told me that you're the new Head Girl. Congrats. It's really no surprise to me, actually.

Okay. To the point of this letter.

I'm Head Boy.

Don't kill me. I'm just as bloody shocked as you (probably) are. I'm not lying.

Just giving you a warning, I'd hate to give you a heart attack when you see me with a Head Boy pin. So, yeah, when you see me wearing a Head pin, I'm not stealing it from Remus.

Sincerely,

James Potter

You may proceed with your letter ripping.

But Lily didn't rip her letter. She merely just sat there, thinking. Potter's Head Boy, she thought. And we're co-Heads.

You'll survive, she told herself. But, Merlin, it's going to be one heck of a year.
