Percy woke up with a start, covered in sweat. "Not again.." he mumbled to himself. It was yet another nightmare. Another night where he woke up after seeing someone he loves being murdered, drowned, or any other cruel way of dying. Tonight, it was Annabeth. Percy sighs, and gets up out of bed. He puts his Camp Half-Blood t-shirt on, and begins pacing his cabin floor. He runs his fingers through his hair. "Isn't there a way to stop this?" He asked himself.
After he'd had enough pacing, he decided to walk to the lake, to think. He didn't care if it was 3 in the morning, it was the only place he could get some clarity. He stepped outside into the warm night air, and began walking towards the lake. He sat down on the sand, and pulled his knees up to his chest.
Looking out at the water, images from the nightmare flashed through his mind. He saw Annabeth, floating there in the lake, dead, drowned. He felt himself drag her cold, lifeless body up to shore. He tried everything to bring her back, but he knew she was gone. Shaking his head, he got those horrid images out of his head, and he realized that a single tear had ran down his face. He quickly wiped it away. "I can't let this happen." He told himself sternly.
Worried, he got up and walked towards the Athena cabin, and looked into the window closest to Annabeths bunk. He smiled, and sighed of releif. She was laying there asleep, just as she should be.
Satisfied that she was safe, he returned to his cabin, and once again tried to go back to sleep. He prayed that he wouldn't have another nightmare, however he knew deep down that in his dreams, he would always see something terrible.
