A/N: Don't worry, I'll still continue with my other story...if you were worried. Which you were probably not, but I'm imagining this so I feel better. Anyway, this is just a one-shot I wrote in school today because I have too much time and also the tendency to pay not as much attention to my teachers as I should. It takes place right after The Satans Pit – you all remember the scene when the Doctor says "Tell Rose (...) – Oh, she knows"? I was so frustrated and then I thought "What if he'd say what we all want him to say?" And then I decided to write a fanfiction about it. Please tell me what you think!"
"When you speak to Rose...tell her...tell her I...tell her that I love her." With these words the Doctor untied his safety belt and fell.
"The stuff of legend" the Doctor said and flew the TARDIS away. Rose and he grinned at each other. Then Rose thought of Idas words.
"Doctor...Ida said...after you jumped in the hole. She said you told her that you love me." She watched how the grin of the Doctor faded. His face turned pale.
"Uh" he said. "Right. Ahem..." He rubbed his neck, which he did every time he was nervous.
"Do you?" Rose asked, smiling. She had actually just wanted to tease hiom a bit. Up until now she had been sure he had said this to Ida because...well, for some good reason. She certainly hadn't expected this kind of reaction. At her question the Doctor paled even more until his face was slightly grey. His gaze darted from Rose to the door and back to her. His answer was surprisingly clear audible and without any stammering.
"We are friends." As if this would explain everything.
"Yup." She didn't intend to make this somehow easier for him.
"Best friends."
"Indeed." He took a deep breath.
"And I – and you – we – Aaaaanyway, where do you want to go next? Your choice."
"End the sentence."
"We could revisit Barcelona. Last time was fun, wasn't it? Or we could go to this holiday planet, Midnight. I've always wanted to visit Midnight. You will love it! Brilliant!"
"Doctor, I'm not going anywhere until you've answered my question. Do you love me?" He had to say No. Because it was impossible that his answer would be Yes. Because she didn't lnpw what would happen if he said Yes. Because she didn't want to think of her answer then. But he whispered:
"And what if I did?"
"I – I don't know" she stuttered. "Do you?"
"No! Maybe! I don't know! I'm 903, I'm not supposed to fall in love, not to mention with a human!"
"Is this a Yes then?"
"Well...I...let's turn this question around." He glared at her, waiting. Rose flushed.
"I'm 20! I shouldn't fall in love with a way older man!"
"Only a few centuries" he muttered, offended and a bit blushing himself.
"But if I do, what happens then?"
"Same question here and still no answer."
"We could just...forget this conversation. Pretend nothing happened."
"Brilliant idea. Let's do this."
"But answer my question first."
"Barcelona it is, then" the Doctor exclaimed enthusiastically and typed in the coordinates. After all he had all time in the world left to tell her.
