#060. Commit

He meant his vows, all three times. He was committed to the woman he stood at the altar with, but not totally. The first marriage found him committed mentally to his career, physically to sympathetic young nurses and an emotional relationship with his best friend. The second marriage found him committed to helping her find her own potential and once he had done that, it was back to the young overwhelmed nurses and his best friend. The third found him hopelessly emotionally, physically devoted to that best friend. But even this friend would eventually find Wilson unable to completely commit.

#056. Smoke

There were times he didn't mind that House occasionally smoked. House lay sprawled on the couch, chain smoking cheap cigarettes. One look at his watch had Wilson hurrying to put his clothes to rights. Dark pants would hide the spatter patterned stains after he wiped at them with a damp cloth. His shirt was wrinkled, but that could be explained as could the missing buttons on the cuff. It was the smell he worried about. That distinctive musky odor of himself, she would immediately recognize and one unfamiliar one he hoped she wouldn't. The smoke though, would cover it nicely.

#035. One Night Stand.

It wasn't that the opportunities hadn't ever presented themselves. They had done so, repeatedly. She practically threw herself at him on many occasions and many others made it quite clear she was available to him. He never took her up on it, quite the opposite, mocking her about it, belittling her motives. When she convinced herself she was over him, then he came to her. He came to her when he had everything to lose, when he had another's heart to break. He never stayed in her bed, he always returned to his own. The one Wilson was keeping warm.

#063. Meant To Be

They were meant to be, for right or wrong. House outlasted every single one of his relationships and marriages since he met the man. It works because the only label they use for what they have is 'a stupid screwed up friendship'. It gives him the freedom to get what House can't or won't give him from others without it being a matter of infidelity. It may not be fair to those others he gets involved with, or even to themselves. It isn't that he doesn't love House, but because he does, that he continues to date, to occasionally marry.

#002. Perfect World

In House's perfect world, Wilson would not need to have a woman attached to his arm. Wilson would be able to walk into a hospital benefit or any other formal or informal function, House at his side and not be ashamed of it. In House's perfect world, Wilson would not need antidepressants because he would stop denying himself what he truly wanted and would not be ashamed of those desires. House knows he will never have this perfect world, so he takes what he can get. Nights and stolen moments of a love which Wilson dare not speak its name.
