Sam was lounging on a leather couch in a modern-styled apartment. Idly flipping through the channels on the TV, he had a totally bored expression on his face, totally displeased with the selection of shows available.

Turning off the TV, he settled himself down for an afternoon nap, but the doorbell interrupted his efforts to relax. "It's unlocked," he half-yelled, sliding himself back up into a sitting position.

The door opened, and in stepped Alan Bradley, with Quorra alongside him. "I'm home, and Alan has to talk to you; he says he found something you might be interested in."

"Yeah, something that ENCOM was working on a long time back; you might have heard of it before," Alan said, while trying to settle down on the furniture available, "A team of employees started a subsidiary of ENCOM, an applied sciences company, known as 'Aperture Science.'"

"I have never heard of them before." Sam replied, not really showing much interest in Alan's explanation.

"Well, I found their old laboratories, and they've got some really neat stuff in there. I'm taking another trip there tomorrow, so would you like to come with me, Sam?" Alan inquired.

"Sure, it's not exactly the most eventful place here at home," Sam accepted, and said, "So can you leave my apartment now Alan?"

"Yeah, I've got some work I need to finish up anyway." Alan replied, and got up and left the apartment.
