An Awkward Encounter
Of course Ma had to go off again, leaving Kitten alone. The last time she came, she told Kitten that she would spend more time with her. She promised Kitten that she would come visit her more often. Everyone else was busy too, even though they had promised to play with her too.
Did no one care about Kitten? It was like she was the toy everyone forgot about and left to the side.
That was it. Kitten wanted to see her and she was going to see her now. She wanted to see her ma, and her ma was going to have to take her in. What else was she supposed to do? Her ma may have said she was with Stork-Man tonight but why couldn't Kitten come over to have some fun too? Stork-Man liked her too, so they could all be friends together.
Kitten was sure that Ma wouldn't mind. Ma surely wouldn't want her to be sad, after all, right?
Yes. Kitten was going to see Ma, and Ma was going to let her in.
Soon enough Kitten had arrived at their place. The door was locked, for some bizarre reason (Ma never kept the door locked, especially not for her).
On the other side, she could hear moaning. Moaning? Was Ma in pain?
She paused, and she could hear Stork-Man moaning too. Was he in pain too? As he moaned again though, she realized that the moans sounded different than pained but she couldn't quite determine what is was.
Hmm... She deserved to see what was going on, to know if there was a problem.
Oh well. The click of the lock opening told her that that problem was solved. If she were human, she would have smiled in satisfaction.
The sight she stumbled upon was strange. Ma and Stork-Man were feeding each other like a mama and baby bird, their lips locked together as if they were fused together. Stork-Man had his hand under her shirt and he was grinding against her as he was pushing her up against the wall. And of course, there was the moaning, that grew as time went on.
Why were they moaning?
Strange. Definitely strange. They never did that in front of her.
They were so concentrated on the bizarre task that they didn't even realize that she came in. Well. She was just going to have to tell them.
She whistled to make them aware of their presence. Immediately they drew away from each other, as if they were two repelling magnets.
Ma's cheeks reddened. ''Kitten!'' Seeing from the aghast look on Stork-Man's face, Kitten knew she had done something wrong. But what?
Kitten clicked her tongue in apology, bowing her head. She only wanted Ma to play with her.
''Didn't I tell you not to come here when I was with Numair?''
Kitten made no motion.
Ma looked to Stork Man, whose head was ducked down. Ma looked back to Kitten and smiled slightly.
''Just don't do it again, all right, Kitten?''
Kitten chirped, bobbing her head up and down to show that she understood.
I know that it was supposed to be Cloud who called Kitten Stork Man. I couldn't remember what Kitten called him and I haven't read Tamora Pierce's new anthology so I decided on that (from what I remember, Kitten couldn't speak mind to mind with Daine, but she could speak the dragon language). If anyone has anything more accurate, please tell me so and I'll edit it. Anyway, this is way different than what I usually write so please review it and tell me anything I should change. Thanks!
