the sweet taste of fate
They ran as far as the night took them, tasting the holy moon's shine. She kept her gaze straight ahead, however her thoughts all circled around the other pair of paws that ran right next to her, their flanks touching every now and then.
It's we now, she thought, repeating it over and over like she still had not decided whether its sound pleased her or not. It's we now.
She was all dressed in fur, as was he, subconsciously making their claim on each other official as they ran so close only mates did.
What a change. Who would've thought? Vivian asked herself, stunned at how her whole opinion on Gabriel had changed in a matter of minutes. She wondered why she hadn't seen the real person behind Gabriel's fur sooner.
What a silly girl she'd been, judging him from far away. Had she only done as he'd said, a day after the Ordeal, 'Find out what I'm all about. You never know, you might like what you find.' But he had been a jerk. What was she supposed to do, with him pressuring her like that? That time, she'd been all over Aiden and didn't know what she truly craved.
It was a good thing she led the poor boy go, that one night she could've killed him if she hadn't fled through the window. No, she would have.
Humans weren't for the magical after all, were they? Humans liked to dream but they ran away like prey as soon as those dreams came true. Aiden could have never loved her for what she was, in both her beautiful shapes.
Just as Gabriel said, she realized, 'When we love someone we want our lover as mate in both our skin and our fur.' So he had been right, after all. Of course he had been, her change had proven him right. Vivian wanted Aiden to know all of her, to accept and to love who she truly was. But he, being this fragile and frightened creature he was, wasn't able to.
It couldn't have worked out, had Gabriel only told her in time. But she knew, she wouldn't have listened.
The tips of her fur touched his; a silent exchange of electricity and longing. She moved closer, pressed her body to his and felt the rippling of his muscles as he pushed himself forward.
Had she been in human form, she would have smiled.
A very old piece I found somewhere in the depths of my harddisk xD The only one shot I have ever written about Blood and Chocolate :D
