Chapter 1

He couldn't move.

That was the first thought that entered his mind as he came to consciousness, but he knew that something was wrong besides being immobile; the surroundings of what he could see was all wrong.

He tried to let out a sigh, but it was moot as he couldn't do anything in this dream. It was the same one he'd been having in the last few days. He could hear the faint sounds of something being fired outside, yet he couldn't go see what was happening even if he wanted to.

Will looked around where his eyes would allow him to look and just like with his other dreams; he was in the same metal structure that looked like nothing he'd ever seen before. He firmly clamped down on the thought that threatened to seep into his mind, but like some strange force was trying to mess with him, the thought still made itself known.

It looks like something out of this world.

And yeah, he knew that aliens actually existing was all kinds of awesomeness mixed in with terror at the fact the bad robots were all for killing them all.

He noticed a shadow appear in the giant doorway to the building, though because of the dim glowing orbs at the corners he couldn't see who it was, but he could clearly hear them when they spoke, their tone grave and desolate.

"Can you even hear us?"

Will felt like blinking if he could, and something in him wanted to reply, 'Yes, yes I can.'

As the figure in the doorway left, Will felt himself slipping away as well.

Will held up a hand to see his face as he blocked the sunlight out of his eyes as it shined through the window to his and Sarah's bedroom. He yawned and his dream reared its head, but in his morning grogginess he didn't think much of it as he got out of bed and walked over to the closet.

He didn't have to get up as he, along with all the others in his unit who'd been involved with the Mission City fiasco were allowed some time on leave to spend with their families and Will intended to spend ever second he could around his. He pulled on some jeans first, but when he didn't think much of it that his hips fit a bit more snugly in them and he didn't need a belt.

The first inkling of something being wrong was when he changed out of his shirt and put on a new one, but it was rather baggy on his frame. He looked down at the plain white t-shirt and wondered if it had gotten stretched out in the wash. He shrugged to himself before walking out of the room and down the stairs.

He walked into the kitchen where Sarah was feeding Annie some of the baby food as she was old enough to eat it now. "How are my girls this fine morning?" he questioned before giving Annie a soft kiss to the head and one to Sarah.

Sarah kissed him back before answering. "Fine; and how did you sleep?"

"Fine." Will replied and winced as he grabbed his throat. What the hell? His voice hadn't cracked since he was an awkward 16 year old!

Sarah raised a brow in amusement. "Are you coming down with something? 'Cause if you are I'm making you stay outside with your robot car."

"No, I'm not-" Will coughed to clear his throat and his voice went back to how it should sound. "No I'm not coming down with something. It's probably just nothing."

"Are you sure?" Sarah persisted

Will nodded reassuringly. "I'm sure, there's nothing wrong with me."

Little did he know that soon would he come to eat those words.
