"Nope, doesn't make any sense" Pete suppressed a yawn.
"It's a contraction, not possessive!" Myka was exasperated. "It's 'YOU ARE!'"
"Then how come 'Pete's' has an apostrophe to show that what I'm talking about belongs to me?" Bored, Pete was eyeing the plate of cookies on Artie's desk.
"Because second-person possessive fits into a different set of rules." Myka was starting to look a little red in the face.
"Well, that's stupid." Pete shrugged.
"Well, I'm sick of having to edit your reports," Myka shook Pete's latest report in her fist. "You're a government agent, Pete, a professional..." She broke off as her girlfriend came into the room and interrupted.
"Pete," HG was holding a post-it note in one hand. "'It's' as in 'it is' has an apostrophe because it's a contraction."
"That doesn't make any sense." Pete mumbled around a mouthful of cookie.
Myka rolled her eyes.
