The bell rang. It was 2:20 "Bye Sendrew" I called to my friend as we left for home after school.

"Your sure you can't come over tonight, Arispil?" he asked me and I replied with a shake of my head.

As I walked down the main street I heard a strange noise, but ignored it. I turned into the alley and walked a few yards when I saw a strange shadow. I slowly looked up and saw the green dragon.

Should I scream? Should I run? Should I do both? Should I stay still? I could easily run under her, but she could catch me. These thoughts raced through my mind and I pondered what I should do, when she the laid down and started licking her belly. There was large scratches that were bleeding and made it clear that she was attacked by a larger, fully grown dragon. I ran up to her, without thinking. I just had to help her.

"How can I help?" I meant to ask myself, but the dragon started talking. "I need to get to my cave, or somewhere safe." How can I understand her? I asked myself. That's it! I remember the lesson a few weeks ago. It said that very rarely, some people can talk to dragons. They are called dragonspeakers, I must be one! It also said that there were only 1 to five in the world.

"I will take you to a place behind my house. It has a river, and a cave." I told the dragon, "What is your name?" The dragon answered "I am Elicianna."
