Oh Mr. Todd, Oh Mr. Todd, You're Such a Fool

Lenore Lovett was retrieving meat pies for her mother when she heard a sickening crunch. She turned to see the blood covered body of Beadle Bamford. The tray of pies clattered to the ground as Lenore held back her screams. There was a clatter of footsteps as Lenore was gathering her wits.

"Toby!" called Mr. Todd in his harsh frightening voice.

"Lenore!" called the baker in her sweet drawling voice.

Lenore wedged herself in a sewer grate. Toby was sitting there. "Shh." The barber and baker were gone now and Lenore climbed out of the sewer grate when there was another crash. Now lying dead and bloody on top of the Beadle was a beggar who seemed to wander around Fleet Street often. "Oh, Lenore dear you are down 'ere!" cried Mrs. Lovett. Lenore nodded.

"He scares me mum." said Lenore. "Mr. Todd wif 'is razor blades and insane songs of revenge. His pleads wif Death to give 'im back 'is wife and child."

There was another crack and judge Turpin was clutching to Lenore's skirts. This alarmed her.

"Die! God in heaven! Die!" she screamed.

"You!" said the baker with a hint of poison in her voice. "'ave all the demons in 'ell come to torment me?" She began to drag the body of the beggar to the oven.

"Why did you scream?" said Mr. Todd dropping his razor. Lenore stepped away. He was the greatest nightmare ever to live.

"The Judge, 'e wos clutchin' at me skirts but 'es finished now." Said Lenore.

"Get the oven door." Said Sweeney. Lenore obeyed. Through the light of the oven he saw the beggar woman. "'don't I know you' she said. You knew she lived."

The baker gulped. "I wos only thinkin' of you."

"You lied to me!"

"No, no, not lied at all!"

"Lucy! I've come home again. Lucy! Oh my god Lucy! What have I done?"

"No, I never lied said she took the poison she did. I never said she died. Poor thing she lived! Ah, but it left her weak in the head. All she did for months was just lie there in bed. Shoulda been in 'ospital wound up in bedlam instead. Poor thing. Better you should think she is dead! Yes I lied 'cause I love you! I'd be twice the wife she was I love you. Could that thing have loved you like me?"

Lenore watched Sweeney coax her mother into his arms telling her he forgave her. Lenore could see what was going to happen next. Her fear alone kept her from klling the man before her mother was three steps from certain doom. Two. One. There was a deafening scream and the baker was no more.

Mr. Todd retreated back to his wife body. Lenore crept behind him with his razor.

"Oh Mr. Todd, oh Mr. Todd you're such a fool." She said bringing the razor across her father's throat. She did not know that this man was Benjamin Barker the man her mother said was her father.

"Toby come out love." she called. "Mista T. is gone."

Toby came out of the sewer grate.

"'elp me wif these bodies will ya." said Lenore.

They burned the corpses.

"Come 'ere Toby." said Lenore. The boy obeyed. Lenore blinked back tears as she slit the boys throat. "Now noone will know of Mr. Todd's terror." she said. She dragged Toby's body to the oven and let it consume them both.
