Author's Notes: Yes, this is based off a favorite poem of mine that dealt with the Abraham Lincoln. If you think about it the wizarding war in Harry' world is a bit like the US Civil War. I myself find this depressing for some reason. Please do not be turned off by that. Thank you for the read and the possible review.
Disclaimer: The characters are not mine for they belong to JKR, neither is the poem which belongs to Walt Whitman. Please do not sue.
O Captain!
Dearest Ginerva Weasley,
I regret to inform you that the man you love is dead. Harry, your husband and the father of your baby, shall not be home to see his first child's birth nor to lay next to you in your bed. He has died bravely, I'm sure that is how he would've wanted to die. He left a letter in his pocket which you had sent him, to possibly give him strength to fight against the man who he had always wished to rid the world of; Tom M. Riddle, otherwise known as Voldemort. Harry won the battle, but his injuries were far too many for the healers to mend.
I know you wished you had been there, but the last thing he wanted was you or the baby to be hurt. I know that you are sitting reading this letter through blurred eyes. But if you read anything in this letter please read this: Harry's last words in the care of the healers was, "Please do tell Ginny, I love her and will always be her for her. Tell my unborn baby that I shall miss seeing him grow to be a fine man someday."
You are possibly now sitting still but now fully sobbing into the loneliness that has befallen you. I knew the news would be hard for you, but please think that he wants you to be happy.
You are the first person to be informed of this tragic news, the public won't know till I believe it is time. They will know of the victorious defeat of the evilness that the wizarding community has seen. I suspect that they shall be rejoicing when the heroes come home after being healed, but will be stunned into a few minutes of silence when they hear the news of his death. That is precisely what I mean to do so that they will come to appreciate what he has done for us. Maybe, they will not take things for granted any more.
Harry was a great man and my captain. I too shall miss the man.
I hope this letter reaches you well,
Sincerely,
Anonymous.
And yes, I left it up to you to speculate who anonymous must be. I hope you enjoyed it.
