I wrote this for my English class in the style of an Old English epic.
(Disclaimer: I do not own the Halo games, obviously.)
You have all heard of Master Chief,
the hero of Halo. But less
well known is the story of his
loyal companion, Cortana.
For her, even a simple task
is a great journey with many
dangerous perils.
Simply opening a locked door
is not a dangerous task
for an AI, but when one is
asked to hack an enemy
console the viruses and anti-
spy programs attack in force.
it was a similar situation
when Cortana face daunting odds.
She and Master Chief needed to
find the location of a
control room in order to save
all life in the galaxy, so
Cortana fearlessly leaped
into an alien computer
console. Because she is an AI,
Cortana would continue to
"live" even if all other life
in the galaxy was wiped out,
but Master Chief did not leave her
during the first Halo Battle, and
a bond formed between the two;
she could not abandon the man
she had come to see as a friend.
As soon as Cortana entered
the computer, she knew the
battle for information would
be the most difficult for her
to date. There were countless numbers
of programs working against her.
But she is not considered a
smart AI for nothing;
Cortana took a stealthy approach
to begin with; she snick past many
firewalls and defense programs
until she reached the information
she needed. Quickly Cortana
copied the information and
ran out as fast as she could, but
the enemy programs instantly
blocked the exit. Using her fast
reflexes and superior
knowledge of coding, Cortana
was able to break through the ranks
of viruses with little damage
to her own computer make-up.
When Cortana returned to Master
Chief, only seconds had passed, but
he was not ignorant to the perils
she had faced in that mysterious
world. They learned to rely on each
other; the two developed
unshakable loyalty and trust
for each other. He kept her safe
from physical enemies while
she braved the realm of computers
and code that he could not enter.
