One Moment, 60 Seconds

You see Sam walking on to the balcony in a beautiful white gown. Her hair is perfect, she's perfect. You have never loved anyone as much as you loved her. She runs into your arms, you swing her around. You hear her angle laugh ringing in your ears. One perfect moment. A moment is only 60 seconds. A lot can happen in 60 seconds, In 60 seconds your life changes forever. You feel it. The warm and red blood oozing itself on to your hands. Soaking through her gown. You feel her go limp in your arms. As she is fading out of conciseness you usher out an "I love you". Those words are possibly the last she will ever hear.

You carry her back to the Metro Court as Patrick and Robin and all the other doctors flee around you, trying to save the life you swore above all else to protect. Robin tells you to move, get out of the way, but you physically can't your attached to Sam, tethered. In a way no one else understands, but her and you. The ambulance comes. Paramedics race. They load her, and then by default you into the back. They say things you don't understand. You can't even really hear them, they are just background noise. They only coherent thought running through your brain is not her, not Sam.

As they wheel her into the hospital. Doctor Drake says" your girlfriend", the only thing that can possibly brake through your cold stone amour that you put up, the moment the bullet hit her skin. " My fiancé" you snap back. How can anyone not know that she's way more than a girlfriend, she's your fiancé, your life, your everything.

You sit after they take her into surgery. You hold onto her star necklace and engagement ring as if they are your lifeline. Your whole body and mind praying for Sam to live. After hours, which seem like centuries they wheel her back to the hospital room.

Doctor Drake tells you the words you have been praying to hear " She'll be ok, Jason. I expect her to wake up in a while." In that moment , in that 60 seconds you feel hope.

Hours later when Sam finally opens her eyes and murmurs your name, you realize in that moment, that 60 seconds, that in life you'll have your finest and worst moments, but as long as you have her it will always be an amazing moment, an amazing 60 seconds.
