She always thought that she and Dominique would last.
It was just the only thing that was sure in her life.
She was so sure Dominique was the one.
She felt it when she looked at Dominique with an expression full of love, Dominique looked at her with an unreadable expression that Roxanne made herself believe, was full of love.
Their first kiss was by the lake, on her fourth year. Their lips met and it felt so right. It felt like she finally found her place in the world and it was here, by Dominique's side. It didn't matter that they were cousins.
At least, not to Roxanne.
She felt it when they became one for the first time. It was in an unused classroom in Hogwarts, on a night with a full moon. And that's when she realized that she was so in love with her, that she wouldn't be able to love anyone else in this life.
Her world was perfect, because it had Dominique in it.
But, like all perfect things, it came to an end.
So a week after Christmas her perfect world was destroyed, by one simple change of her routine.
She was late for class that day.
She had forgotten her charm's book in her dorm. So after breakfast she went to retrieve it.
After finding her book she run to get in class hoping that she wouldn't be too late. Roxanne decided to take one of the secret passages. She usually didn't but she didn't want to risk getting detention.
That's where she found them.
In a passionate embrace, kissing like there was no tomorrow.
She felt her heart shatter into a million pieces that no one would ever be able to put back together.
"Dominique", Roxanne said with a broken voice, resembling her broken heart.
They broke their embrace in shock and the guy run away when he saw who she was.
"Roxanne, it's not what you think", Dominique tried to explain, but Roxanne was already gone.
That happened a week ago and while Dominique tried to talk to her, Roxanne would always find a way to leave.
And now, Roxanne was sitting in the Quidditch change room of her house looking at her reflection on the knife she was holding. She had took it from the Great Hall during lunch.
No one had notice.
No one noticed that she was hurting. No one noticed that her heart was broken beyond repair. No one noticed that her soul was sleeping and that it would be sleeping forever. No one noticed that she was alone.
She knew she would never be able to move on her heart and her soul were both broken beyond repair but they still belonged to Dominique.
Dominique.
Just thinking her name brought tears in her eyes.
She couldn't take it anymore. Every day she spent away from her drove her mad. She couldn't take it any longer.
She brought the knife over her heart, deciding to put an end to everything. She wondered if she still had a heart to hurt. She didn't know but she was pretty sure she would find out soon.
The door opened, the moment she placed the knife above her broken heart and the last thing she saw, before passing out, was Dominique's shocked and horrified face when she laid eyes on Roxanne.
She always thought that she and Dominique would last.
It was just the only thing that was sure in her life.
She was so sure Dominique was the one.
But deep within her heart she knew….
True love doesn't exist.
