As Endless As the Stars…
Namine was sitting on the cool grass that was slightly wet with dew. She was drawing a picture again on the breathtaking view of stars. It was particularly clear tonight and you could see everything. When she was finished, she slowly closed the sketchbook and lean back to gaze at the stars.
She let out a peaceful sigh. Never have she seen such a sight. It made her feel as if she was a somebody, somebody important. All her problems could disappear into the moonlight.
"Namine?"
She jumped. Namine turned around to see Riku behind her. Namine sighed in relief to see it was Riku.
"Gosh, Riku! You scared me."
"Sorry," he apologized. Riku took a seat next to her. Leaning back, he asked, "Namine, what are you going out here alone?"
"Looking at the stars."
Riku sat up and looked at her.
Namine sighed, "When I look up, I feel like… like I'm somebody. Like I have a heart."
Riku lied back down and turned to his side, away from Namine. "It's better not to have a heart," he whispered.
"How come?"
He turned to her, "No one can hurt you." Namine was surprised to hear this. All she ever dreamed about was having emotions; to know what love, pain, or happiness felt like.
"Riku, I'm sorry." Riku looked at her. "It's because I look like Kairi, right? I wish I could return you feelings."
Namine got up and started walking away. But, suddenly, a pair of strong arms wrapped around her tiny body.
"Namine, you are your own person. It's not because you look like Kairi. I'm hurt because you believe you don't have a heart," he whispered to her. "You have a heart, you just don't know it."
Namine closed her eyes and absorbed all his words. Sure, they were pleasing to the ear, but Namine knew better.
Riku must have sensed her doubt. "You can't honestly believe that you don't feel anything. Even right now?" He still hadn't removed his arms.
"Well… I…" she stuttered, searching for an answer.
But Riku didn't wait for an answer. He snuggled in her neck and brushed his lips against her skin. She shuddered at his touch. He then started sucking and nibbling her sensitive spots and led butterfly kisses up and down her neck and collarbone. Namine let out a giggle.
"Riku. Stop it!" she laughed.
"Not until you admit it!"
She turned around so that she was facing him. She then hugged him gently and said, "I do. I do feel something, Riku." As soon as she said that, she felt something; something beating, something pulsing.
"Riku…" she whispered, asking for an explanation.
"Namine, as long as we have feelings for each other, you have a heart," he said to her.
Suddenly, he pulled her into a passionate kiss. Their lips were moving to each other's sweet rhythm. Riku's tongue was tracing her lips and he was nibbling her bottom lip, begging for an entrance. She gladly parted her moth and Riku's tongue shot in, exploring her temple.
His tongue met hers and they were at war. During this, Riku held on Namine's small body, shielding her from cold. Namine placed her hands around his neck to get closer to him.
Finally, they broke apart and Namine was out of breath. But she couldn't stop smiling' she felt her heart racing. She put her hand on Riku's chest to feel his heart pulsing at the same speed as her own.
"Namine," Riku whispered to her, "I love you."
She looked up at him. "I love you too. I think I finally know what love is." She smiled, "It's as endless as the stars…"
And with that, she closed her eyes and lean against his chest listening to the endless beating of their hearts.
