I watched Davis sitting in the bench slightly nervous. He had every right to be, this was the biggest game of the year after all. He kept throwing glances at the other team, looking a tad discouraged. I couldn't take it any longer. I stalked down to where he sat and stood in front of him. "What are you so nervous about?" I demanded.

"Nothing…" he answered meekly. I yanked him up into a standing position.

"Davis! I don't believe this! You have absolutely nothing to worry about. You're a great soccer. For cripes sakes, you are the Digidestined of Courage and Friendship!" He still looked a little nervous. "Okay. How many people do you know that have stood up to evil forces that are, like, a Zillion times stronger than them? How many guys on that team have saved the world? Twice! You can do this, Davis!"

He sighed heavily and focused on a point just past my shoulder. "It's not that, Yolie. It's just…" then he trailed off

"Just what?" I questioned, tilting my head to the side in confusion

"There's this girl I like, and…she's watching the game tonight. I just want to give a good impression." Davis stated quietly. I don't know why, but I felt an unfamiliar twinge in my heart.

"Oh, well, who is she?" Davis looked at me as though I had grown a third eye.

"Yeah right! Like I'm gonna tell you. Half the school would know by tomorrow! Besides, she's already got her heart set on someone else." I rolled my eyes. Here we go with the 'Kari' thing again.

"You mean Kari? Davis, I thought you said you were over her."

He shook his head defiantly "No, not her… someone else."

Just then, the whistle that signals the start of the game went off. He turned and jogged slowly towards the field, still looking a little downcast. "Davis!" I called after him. He half turned. "I'll be rootin' for ya!" I said with a wink. He grinned and jogger to his position.

Looking a lot brighter than usual, he played his hardest and even scored the winning goal! The game was one of the best he'd played.

The second the whistle signifying the end of the game shrilled, I rushed to the field. I was the first one down there and immediately sought out Davis, to congratulate him. We met somewhere in the center of the field. He looked extremely proud of himself. Then, he did something completely unexpected. He hugged Me! I mean, we are Best Friends, but, still.

Still hugging me, he bent his head to whisper in my ear. "You know, I haven't told you that girl's name yet." He stated matter-of-factly. I leaned back to look up at him,

"Well, what's her na-" I didn't get to finish my sentence, because Davis had placed his lips gently over mine. It was a short kiss, but it threw me for a loop.

"Davis!" one of his teammates called for him. "C'mon, we're gonna go celebrate." Davis tossed me a glance, and then jogged after his team.

Davis! Wait up!" I caught up with him and took his hand. "I think your 'Mystery Girl' likes you back." I told him with a smile. He grinned, and we went off together to celebrate the win…both of them.
