He was gone, forever. I couldn't believe it. I sat, his head in my lap, silently crying. Blood was still pouring from his thigh, and his face was paler than I've ever seen it. Thankfully, the rest of the flock was staying with mom and Ella. I was the only one here to see it happen.

"Why, why did you do this to me? I yelled at him. "Why did you leave me? You promised me we would be together forever! FOREVER! Why did you try it now?" I felt helpless, so I leaned down and gave him the longest kiss. When I came up for air, his eyes were still closed. What did I think? That would bring him back to life?

We had our whole lives ahead of ourselves. He promised me we would get married as soon as we turned eighteen. Us, together, forever. With a family maybe, living near the flock as well as mom and Ella. But he had to leave me, just as we committed to each other. I laid there for what seemed like days, not eating, sleeping, or moving. I was so close to death, but it didn't matter to me anymore. The world was safe, the flock was safe, and mom and Ella were safe. Dying would put me out of this agony and I would be with him again. Just I closed my eyes I heard wings. Moments later, four people and a dog came into view. They landed on the edge and sat next to me.

"Max! What happened? You'd said you'd be home days ago!" Nudge's motor mouth started running. Obviously, she wasn't looking, because her smile faltered a second later as she faced me.

"What happened?" Iggy asked, hearing Angel's cries.

"He's gone, shot in the leg by a lunatic," I croaked. Iggy gasped.

"You're lying! I don't believe it!"

"She's right, Ig," Gazzy said, tears falling silently from his face.

"It's okay Max," Total tried to cheer everyone up. It obviously wasn't working. We just sat together for a few minutes, me still feeling empty.

"Come on, let's go tell Dr. Martinez and Ella," Nudge said, crying loudly.

"No! I can't let me stay here," I pleaded with them.

"Max, you have to go back come on, Iggy and Gazzy will help you," Angel told me firmly. I tried to stay firmly on the ground, but the boys were stronger. Gazzy and Iggy picked me and took off. I couldn't believe that was my last time seeing him.

Wait, is Angel coming?" I asked. They hovered in the air for a minute.

"Ange, are you coming?" Iggy called.

"I'll be there in a minute!" She called back through tears. We took off, leaving Angel by the ledge.

Angel's POV

After the rest of the flock disappeared from sight, I sat down next to him, tears steadily falling. "Why did you leave Max?" I choked out. "She needed you and you left her all alone. She loved you. She thought it all the time. I can't believe you're gone." I brushed his hair out of his eyes and took one last look at his face. He looked peaceful, and no matter how much I wanted to stay, I had to leave. I kissed both of his cheeks, my final good-bye.

Wings spread, I stole one more glance at him and whispered, "We love you, Fang," and I leaped from the cliff.

Sorry if you liked it, but it's a oneshot. Please review if you can! Thanks,
