For Nickel - Merry Christmas!
Love and Snow:
It started slowly about 1 am, in small slow flakes and it didn't stop. By morning Sherwood Forest and the surrounding villages were covered in a blanket of thick, fluffy, white snow. When Katrina woke up, went to her bedroom window and saw the snow she smiled broadly. It was the morning of December 25th - Christmas Day - it was actually a white Christmas, which was a rare thing.
With the smile as a permanent fixture on her face, Katrina hurriedly got dressed. She grabbed the brown package - which contains the present she had made for Allan - and after wishing a Merry Christmas to her parents and younger siblings, she ran out of the house.
As she ran she was aware of the snow still falling thickly, which was catching itself in her short brown hair, but she wasn't so aware of the people around her as she almost ran into at least three other villiagers. She was too excited about seeing Allan on Christmas day to notice anyone else around.
In her excitement she didn't even notice Allan as he was walking up to her and she ran right into him. 'Whoa' Allan laughed. 'Slow down, Kat. Anyone would think you had somewhere important to be'
Katrina's smile broadened yet again 'Well' she said, just catching her breath from running and the shock of running into Allan 'Seeing you was rather important' she leaned forward and kissed him 'Merry Christmas, Allan' she said, softly.
'Merry Christmas, Katrina' Allan replied.
After a short pause they both spoke 'I got you a present'. They both laughed.
'You go first' Katrain said, feeling excited.
Allan put him hand into the pocket of his top and pulled out an unwrapped necklace. There was a 'K' stratched into it. 'Turn around' Allan said. Katrina did so and Allan placed the necklace around her neck and tied it in place at the back. Katrina lifted it in front of her face and looked at it closely.
'It's lovely' she said, letting it drop and turning back to face Allan. 'My turn' she added.
Allan shook his head 'I'm not done yet' he said. He pulled a small bag out of another pocket 'For your family' he said as he passed it over to Katrina.
Katrina looked in it, it was full of money. She looked up at Alllan in shock and said 'I can't accept this'
'You can' Allan said 'and you will'
Katrina threw her arms around Allan 'Thank you' she said. 'You have no idea how much this will help'
'You have no idea how much it helps having a permanent friend in a villiage' Allan replied.
Katrina put her hands on her hips, her present for Allan in her left hand. 'Allan A Dale' she said in a mock stern voice. 'I hope I am not just a friend in your eyes'
Allan smiled innocently and purposely didn't answer the comment 'Can I have my present now?' he asked.
'Nope' Katrina replied. She turned to walk away and Allan attempted to snatch it from behind her. 'Oh no you don't' Katrina said, keeping a tight grip on it.
'Kat' Allan said, seriously 'Don't make me tickle you'
'You wouldn't dare' Katrina said and swung back to face him.
By way of an answer Allan did tickle her.
Despite trying to pretend to be annoyed Katrina couldn't help but laugh. 'Stop it' she laughed. In an attempt to get her to stop, the present fell out of her hand into his.
'Ah ha' Allan called triumphantly. He whispered in Katrina's ear 'So much more than a friend'
Katrina smiled happily. 'I made it myself' she said, gesturing to the present as Allan toreinto he was in he revealed a brown scarf and a pair of mittens the same colours.
'I love it' Allan said, putting the mittens on. He then attempted to put the scarf on.
Katrina laughed, took the scarf off him and wrapped it comfortably around his neck. 'And I love you' she spoke only just loud enough for him to hear.
'I love you, too, Katrina' he replied and wrapped his arms around her, he kissed her deeply
