TO Err is Human to Forgive Devine
Disclaimer: I do not have any affliation with Day of Our Lives. Pairing: None Genre: Drama/Angst Summary: Sami while in her hospital room has an unexpected visitor, during her time of thoughts.
She gently rubbed her stomach as she listened to the soft murmur of the small child that lay nestled in her arm. She could still hear the high shrill voice of Katherine Elizabeth Roberts berating her for all of the mistakes that she had made over the course of her lifetime. She could remember the moments of her life where her twin brother would be with her, he would wait upon her or protect her from whatever scared her or threatened her. The endless love that she had once felt for Austin and the way she had tried to make him fall in love with her, but had inevitably been unsuccessful. The time that after she had been made fun of, she and Lucas had made love and conceived a son together. The precious moment when he was brought into the world.
Kate sat silently at the edge of the room, unbeknowst to the woman that lay in the bed, watching over the young woman that at a precious age had brought her first grandchild into the world, praying that the woman would be alright. Kate sighed as she felt guilty for initially wishing death upon the mother of her grandson, who lay huddled into his mother.
"Sami?" Kate whispered into the darkness, as she noticed the blond woman as she brushed a hand over young William's head. Kate crawled forward into the darkness toward the woman and took her hand. "What are you doing here?" was all the woman could say as she looked into the woman's darkened features, Kate sighed as she brushed some of Sami's light blond hair away from her face. "Is there anything that I can do for you?" Kate asked, Sami looked puzzled at the woman and her sudden change in temperment toward her. Sami, sat up making sure not to disrupt Will from his sleep. "Tell Austin I am sorry." Sami whispered, unsure if Kate would be able to hear her whispers, Kate smiled as if she had won, the victory of the words seemed to come to her ears with a saddened tone. "I will." Kate said, as she watched the woman uncomfortable lay back onto the large, feather pillow that lay beneath her head. "Take care of my Will, tell him that his mommy loved him." Sami stated, as another tear slipped down her pale face, knowing that she would never be able to watch her young son grow up, or be able to protect him from the things that he feared. "I will." Kate whispered, as she watched Sami close her eyes one last time before slipping into an eternal slumber.
Kate slowly picked up her grandson making sure not to disturb him or alarm him of his mother's passing. A tear slipped down Kate's face as she looked at the young woman, the woman who had given her life to save Will. It would never be the same, the hatred that was once felt was no longer there as she continued to stare at the dead body of Samantha Brady. There were wrongs that they had both committed against the other, but it was forgiven, there was no longer a reason to hate. "Goodbye Sami, rest in peace!" Kate said softly into the darkness as she leaned in and gently kissed the woman on the forehead before walking out of the room with her grandson.
The End
