This is completely random: the idea just came to me randomly.
I own nothing, and especially not the line from One Tree Hill that makes this entire fic.
"People always leave"
How true this line is to Harry James Potter, who has suffered the most loss out of anyone.
Lets count it through, from the beginning.
First of all, there are both sets of grandparents who he never knew, but still, nonetheless, lost because they could have been there for him, bought him sweets, spoilt him rotten. And he never knew this experience.
Then, most importantly, are his parents, James and Lily, the people who ought to have taught him how to ride a bike, to tie his shoelaces, to say his pleases and thank you's. the people who should have met his friends, invited them over, cooked them meals. Helped him with his homework, grounding him for any wrongdoing. The people who should have taught him everything they know. Harry Potter never learnt any of this from his parents. They were taken from him too young.
This is bad enough. But for the loss to continue throughout his life? That is just despicable.
Lets continue the loss count:
Next, his Godfather Sirius Black. The person who is next important to him after his parents and grandparents. He was getting close to him after not knowing about him for 12 years. Learning his likes and dislikes, getting used to his care for him: after all, throughout his life, only Harry's friends (from the age of 11) had ever cared for him. This is the person who ought to have taught Harry how to chase after girls, to flirt, to be a heartbreaker (not that you want this, but that's what he should have done). To have helped him with anything in his life. But Harry didn't have him long enough to do any of this. He was robbed from him as well.
Continuing the list… next is Albus Dumbledore, head teacher. Not a normal candidate on a loss list, but this head is different. He took Harry under his wing, he helped him understamnd everything when Harry defeated evil year after year, covered for him with the Minsitry and cared for him deeply. Albus made him feel wanted in Hogwarts, and then made him feel useful by hunting for the Horcruxes. Then he was robbed by Severus Snape from him: someone he ought to trust, but he never did. Albus is gone now: just who is left for Harry to lose?
The final people on the list are Remus and Dora Lupin: Remus being an old family friend and someone who was there for Harry after all the other losses in his life. Dora, someone who helped them in the Order, made him feel happy and was simply fun. Both of them supposed to continue their roles for the rest of their lives as surrogate parents in a sense but no, evil had to rob them from Harry as well.
Everyone who means anything in a family sense to Harry has been stolen by evil.
"People always leave"
Too right they do. Just to somewhere, from which they can never come back…
Very random and rambly in a sense but I thought it fit with the quote quite well :D
Review though please
