Relax in my arms

After a long day at the university all Lydia wanted to do was go home and collapse on her bed. She wanted to leave the school at 6pm but didn't leave until 8pm because of the jackass she's supposed to call boss.

She unlocked the front door and let her bag fall off her shoulder and slipped out of her shoes. She barely took one step before she realised the petals under her feet. Her expression changed into one of confusion before she followed the trail that was left for her. It led her to the kitchen where she saw the dining table set up for two.

She immediately smelt her favourite meal cooking and took in a deep breath. Allison appeared at her side and wrapped an arm around her waist before kissing the side of her head.

"Welcome home Sweetie" she said and went back to cooking the pasta.

"What's all this for?" Lydia asked as she took a seat in the chair closest to her. Allison gave Lydia a glass on her favourite white wine and started to plate up the food.

"I just wanted to treat you since Christmas is in a few days" Allison replied and set a plate of Whole wheat ravioli with courgette & ricotta in front of her wife.

"Well I can't say I'm complaining because today has been extremely stressful and this is exactly what I need" Lydia said as Allison took a seat opposite her and looked at her lovingly. After everything they had been through who would have thought that working at the university was the thing that knocked Lydia Argent off of her feet.

"Well cheers to us" Allison said raising her glass to tap against Lydia's. They ate together and spoke about what they did during the day and enjoyed each other's company.

When they had finished eating they washed the dishes up together and cleaned the kitchen before going to bed. The rose petals on the floor once again guided their way and led them to the bedroom. Lydia chuckled at her wife's silliness and shook her head at her.

Once they entered the room Lydia saw that Allison had done a bit of decorating. There were fairy lights wrapped around each of the four bed posts and the bed sheets had even more rose petals scattered over it. The window ledge and dressing table had battery powered candles on them and the curtains were pulled closed with hand crafted snowflakes stuck on them.

Lydia gasped at the sight before her and turned to look at her wife. She wrapped her arms around Allison's neck and breathed in her scent.

"Have I told you that I love you today?" Lydia asked quietly as she wiped away a few stray tears.

"It was the first thing you said when we woke up this morning but I wouldn't mind hearing you say it again" Allison smirked and kissed her wife.

"I love you" Lydia replied simply between kisses and pulled her wife towards the bed.

An hour and a half later the two women were snuggled up together under the bed sheets. Allison was drawing patterns with her fingers on Lydia's bare back whilst Lydia slowly dragged her fingers up and down Allison's arms.

They were completely calm; nothing could pull them apart from each other in that moment. They only had to wait two more days and then they could spend their first Christmas together as a married couple.

"Thank you" Lydia whispered and then looked up at Allison.

"You don't need to thank me. I'd do anything for you Lydia" Allison replied and kissed her wife once more before they both settled back into the bed sheets and fell into a peaceful sleep.
