Donna sat perched on the TARDIS's entry. A nebula passed by outside. So many things so many places. She wiped a tear from her eye.
"He'd have loved to see all this, you know. Always rambling on about aliens and whatnot." Her words were met by silence. Then two hands brought a blanket around her shoulders. She wordlessly accepted it, holding it closed with her own hand. The Doctor sat beside her, his own legs dangling out the door. He turned to Donna, no trace of laughter in his eyes.
"I'm sorry." He said. Donna shook her head,
"Not your fault." The Doctor put his arm around Donna's shoulders. She lay her head on his shoulder and took a deep, shuddering sigh.
"We can go see him, if you like. Back when he was young." Offered the Doctor. Donna didn't look at him as she shook her head,
"Nah. He wouldn't be Granddad back then." She said tonelessly. The Doctor nodded, not saying anything. They sat there for a time, Donna wrapped in a blanket and the Doctor's arm as they looked out at the nebula. After a while, the Doctor dropped a kiss in her hair,
"You're going to be alright Donna."
"How do you know that?" she asked in a small voice.
"Because you're Donna the Human, and you're strong. He was Wilf the Human, and he was strong. If you have half his strength, you'll come out of this just fine." Finished the Doctor with a small smile. Donna's lip wobbled,
"But I won't." she whispered, breaking out in tears. The Doctor put his other arm around her as well and pulled her close until she was practically in his lap. He rocked her back and forth, not saying a word. There were no words to help her now.
