It was dinner time at the Tendos. Nabiki was smiling after a very profitable day. Kasumi was serving extra rice to those who wanted it. Ranma & his father were wolfing there food down and Akane was watching them, mild disgust visible on her otherwise graceful features. P-chan, her little pet pig was watching akane and ranma, just waiting for something to happen.
Akane and Ranma then started a mild argument about his eating habits, which then turned into a fullblown argument about her cooking.
There was such a commission that only Kasumi noticed the knock on the door. She went to open it.
"I
didn't say that you uncute tomboy!
Ranma, you jerk!"
The sound of someone clearing their throat stopped them continuing. They looked up to see Ukyo, standing at the entrance to the dining room, looking somewhat serious.
"Ran-chan, I wish to speak with you alone
Okay Ucchan, let's go behind the dojo."
Akane wondered what this was all about, and followed them, P-chan in her arms, a safe distance away, to listen.
"What did you want, Ucchan?
Ranma…" He noticed the way she did not say chan at the end of his name, but thought nothing of it.
"I have done a lot of thinking recently, and have finally relised something about you…
What on earth…?
Ranma, you are a coward.
What? Look if this is about my fear of cats…
No, this is about your fear of rejection.
What on earth? Are you feeling well Ukyo?! I don't fear rejection! Why would I?!
Liar!
What?
I have thought long and hard about this situation with Kodachi, Shampoo, Ukyo, Akane and myself, about your "many fiancées" as the people at school call it.
Hey, that's not my fault, it's my dads…
Don't you think I know it?" Ranma was surprised to see a look of annoyance in Ukyo's tone.
"Then what…
Genma may be the reasn you have two fiancées, but you are the reason this has gone on for so long.
Huh?
Honestly Ranma, if you were told to choose one and only one of us right here, right now, who would it be?
Ucchan… I can't…
Coward! The reason you won't choose IS your fear of rejection. You won't choose, because the one you love, the only one you WOULD choose, is the one who has never said she loves you.
How… What?
If you had been willing to choose someone else, this would have been over long ago. Dammit Ranma, you've been stringing us along hoping we'd just give up!
Listen Ucchan, it's not what you think…
Ranma you
Jackass, I know that I've guessed the truth. You still haven't
mastered a pokerface, even for serious matters! I didn't come to
listen to your excuses, I just came to announce that I officially
renounce my engagement to you! From now on, I want you to call me
Ukyou!
Now I've got to go, it's really getting late. Goodbye!"
Ukyou ran from the scene, a smile on her face, tears in her eyes, as she had just done the hardest thing ever, and given up on a man that she had known and loved for a very long time. She did not notice the girl who was leaning against the wall, surprise and shock evident on her face, nor did she notice a piglet looking at her with an expression, which, on a human would be akin to respect, as she fled the house in the direction of Ucchan's okonomiyaki.
