A.N: This is co-written with Alison (LostinBelieving) And me, Lindsay, is the other person who she wrote it with. Not Leigh. Only Alison and me wrote this. We came up with this at like ten in the morning after a sleepover. Enjoy.
Knowing
He woke up, thinking that he had heard a noise coming from down the hall. That was almost impossible. Looking at his clock, he doubted she would be up at two AM the day of her wedding.
He knew the sound shouldn't bother him, but for some reason it did. To check on her was probably the best, even though the voice in his head said everything was fine.
The hall creaked, the house's life was almost as old as he. Memories faded away into the walls and furniture, staring back at him. As he sat down in the rocking chair in the corner of her room, he could see him eighteen years younger rocking his newborn child.
Now she was an adult, almost as mature as him. But even in her sleep, where you should look younger, instead she looked she had been through a whole life worth of experiences.
Bella. His daughter who finally came back to fill the years he had missed with her. Now again she was going away from him, living with another family. Of course he would see her again, but she had acted like she wasn't going to be around any more.
He was going to leave after he noticed nothing was out of place. But after thinking how little time he had left with her, he decided to stay. After all she would never know he was there.
"Charlie." He perked up at the sound of his name. Did she subconsciously know he was sitting there? "The truth."
Now he was confused. He's heard her splutter random things before, but maybe she was talking to him. Trying to tell him something. He always thought she was hiding something, but even now, what would she have to say?
"Edward...The Cullens." She turned in her sleep, ruffling the blankets around her. Maybe she wasn't talking to him. Maybe it was just pre-wedding jitters. "Vegetarians."
Hmm...He always knew the Cullens never ate anything when people offered them food. And Edward never touched anything when he was around. Bella always acted like he wasn't going to eat anything anyway. Maybe his religion made him become a vegan, and the family didn't want to bother anyone else with their eating choices.
"Jacob...Pack. Uh, legends and wolves." Wolves? They already had to deal with the house sized supposive wolves around the area. They couldn't possibly have anything to do with them.
"Fast cars. Journeys." A shudder ran through her. Even in the dark, he could tell she was frowning. "Victoria." The name came out of her mouth in a hiss. He never heard that name before.
Maybe she was telling him something after all.
But then he could hear the shallow, even breathing. It sounded like she wasn't going to talk anymore.
So he got up, trying not to knock into anything as he made his way out of the room. Hopefully, he wouldn't wake her up. But as the door closed, he heard the last words she could conjure.
"Edward...cold one..blood sucker...Jacob...changed wolf. All real."
As he walked away, all of the information patched together. A grim smile faltered on his face. He could say he always knew. The cold skin, no appetites, and gracefulness. And then the always eating, almost too big boy that he had known all of his life.
As he shut his door, he knew things would be the same as it always has been. As it had been going on for the years he had been alive, and before that. And now the future.
Except now he knew.
