There For Each Other
Chapter 1: He's Safe
A/N: This chapter takes place sometime during season 2.
Kanan woke with a start. He was panting and his heart was pounding. He sat up and searched for his Padawan through the Force. Once he'd found him, Kanan calmed down slightly.
"It was just a nightmare", he thought to himself.
However, just being able to sense Ezra wasn't enough. He had to see him.
Kanan got up and walked across the hall to Zeb and Ezra's room. Once he was there, he used the Force to open the door. Upon entering the room, he found both the Lasat and his Padawan sleeping in their bunks. Zeb was sprawled out and snoring loudly on the bottom bunk, while Ezra was curled up on his side, sleeping quietly on the top bunk.
As quietly as he could, Kanan walked over, climbed up the latter, and sat on the edge of Ezra's bunk. Seeing Ezra sleeping so peacefully helped Kanan relax.
The Inquisitors hadn't killed the boy. Ezra- the real Ezra- was safe in his bunk.
The Jedi gently pushed some of the teen's hair out of his face.
Ezra sighed softly in his sleep and shifted so that he was a bit closer to Kanan.
Kanan smiled.
"Goodnight, kid", he whispered.
Kanan climbed down the ladder, opened the door, and walked back to room. Then, he laid down.
Now knowing that his Padawan was safe, Kanan closed his eyes and went back to sleep.
