Five Times Seth Gecko Said 'I Love You' and One Time He Didn't

1:"It's okay Richie, it's okay." Seth reassures him, his younger brother curled up in Seth's bed for protection. "I love you Richie, and that's all that matters." He holds his brother tighter and places his hands over Richie's ears so Richie can't hear the fighting. "I won't let him hurt you Richie. We'll run away. I'll look after you. I love you." Their parents are always fighting but this is worse. He's killing her and Seth's too young to stop him. He's only nine. Instead, he tries to soothe his baby brother, who cries himself to sleep in Seth's arms.

2:"I'm old enough to look after him! I've been doing it all this time!" A fifteen year old Seth protests. "Richie, I won't let them separate us! You can't keep us apart! It's not right! He needs me! I love him. I love you, Richie! Wherever they take you, wherever they take me I'll break out. I'll get you! We'll be together again! I love you, buddy!" Seth shouts even as he's dragged away, kicking and screaming. Richie goes with the social worker quietly. It's a few weeks before the hallucinations start. It's a few months before Seth finds him.

3:It's amazing sex, as always. And Seth is coming down from a post-orgasmic high. It's mixed with a strange sense of foreboding. The combination makes him sentimental. "God, I love you." He whispers blissfully in his brother's ear, nuzzling it just a little.

"This is wrong." Richie announces suddenly. Seth tries to protests. "I'm not a kid anymore, I won't believe your lies." It's true, Richie may be 18 but Seth has never considered him an adult. "This is wrong. We're fuckin' brothers." Richie leaves the bed and puts on his clothes. It's the last time they ever have sex.

0:"I can't believe we're married!" She squeals. "Mrs. Gecko, I'll never get used to it. I love you so much Seth!" Her happiness soon disappears. "Seth, are you listening to me?" Seth is lost in thought. "I know you miss your brother…"

"You know nothing!" He snaps and hits her. Horrified by what he's done, worried he's turning into his father, he runs away and never sees her again. He drinks to try and forget his brother. When that doesn't work he turns to drugs. When that doesn't work he turns to robbing banks. It's no surprise he gets caught.

4:"You didn't need to kill them all!"

"What the fuck? Of course I needed to kill them Seth, they wouldn't have let you go otherwise." Richie argues, trying to focus on the road.

"That was very stupid of you!" Seth's anger soon disappears though, as he takes in the sight of his brother. "It was also very smart. Damn but I've missed you." Seth sighs. "I fuckin' love you. You know that right?" He pulls Richie in for a passionate kiss. The car veers out of control and hits a woman.

"Shit Seth. Now look what you've done!" Richie complains.

5:Seth removes chairs and a miscellaneous bloody torso that lies on top of his brother's corpse. Then he strokes Richie's hair and pours out his soul. "Hey buddy." There are tears in Seth's eyes, pain in his heart. "I'm sorry I fucked things up, Richie. You would've liked it in El Rey. You would've… You would've found peace there. I love you, buddy." Suddenly, Richie transforms and becomes one of the undead.

"I love you too, Seth." And Seth's heart leaps to hear those words. It's just a shame it's a vampire, screwing with his mind and heart. But still…
