This has been sitting in my head for a while and it amused me so much I just had to write it out. I hope you enjoy this as much as I do :D
Maedhros and Fingon belong to Tolkien.
Maedhros pushed as hard as he could, but the damn thing still wouldn't come out. He was sweating, his breath coming in short bursts. It was no use: it was simply too big. He couldn't do it. It wasn't possible.
"Fingon," Maedhros growled.
The dark-haired elf was instantly at his side, worried that somethng was wrong. "Yes, love?"
Maedhros glared at him. "You did this to me, so you damn well better help me."
Fingon laid a hand on his shoulder as Maedhros groaned in frustration when once again it refused to budge. "I can't do it. It won't work."
He turned pleading eyes to his lover. Fingon pressed a kiss to his forehead and took a look at the progress. "You're doing a wonderful job so far, Russandol. You're nearly done; come on, you can do it."
"No, I can't."
"Yes you can. Come on, take a deep breath and try again."
"Alright," Maedhros sighed. "One more."
Fingon smiled encouragingly. "That's right. Just one more. You can do it, I have faith in you."
The dark-haired elf put an arm around his waist and, heartened, Maedhros took another deep breath and grit his teeth as he pushed the thing one last time. It went all the way through and easily slid out the other side. Maedhros breathed a sigh of relief, leaning into Fingon's shoulder.
"There, see? You did it." Fingon kissed the top of the red-haired elf's head. "That wasn't so hard after all, was it?"
Maedhros pressed his forehead into Fingon's neck. "I suppose not."
After a pause he added, "But if I ever find the person who invented buttons, I'm going to kill them."
…BAZINGA! I bet that didn't turn out the way you were expecting. Mwahaha. xD
(For those of you who don't get it, Maedhros is trying to do up the buttons on his shirt and failing, because, y'know, he only has one hand. Obviously he got good the hang of it eventually, 'more deadly with his left hand than he had ever been with his right' and all that, but he would have had to start somewhere and it probably would have been very awkward and hard for him to start with.)
