Disclaimer: Green Lantern is property of DC Comics. I own nothing accept my original character and the plot.
A/N: Oh my god. She's alive. And she's not writing/updating what I want her to write/update. Sorry guys, but you'll have to wait awhile longer for me to update my Kick-ass and G.I. Joe stories, I currently lack the inspiration to even contemplate a new chapter for either. However, while rereading Green Lantern: Rebirth for the thirtieth time I finally managed to grasp my Green Lantern muse by the throat and get it to sit still long enough to allow me to fully plot out a Green Lantern story.
As those who read my Kick-Ass fic know, or I hope they know, I love comics. Specifically Green Lantern. I've been following the Geoff Johns line for almost two years now and I have to say, it's my favorite thing of all time. Absolute favorite thing. And I've been wanting to write a story for a year or so, but haven't been able to figure out how to go about it. Maybe I should have stayed up until all hours of the night thinking about it awhile back ago.
Anyway, I plan on keeping up with this story as well as I can. Muse wise, it'll be easy, especially since I know just about everything there is to know about Green Lantern. Plot wise, don't expect much from Hal being a superhero for quite sometime. I plan on keeping this deep in Hal's personal life for a good long while. Update wise, there might be some time between updates. Though I'm not taking classes this semester, I am enrolled in the Disney College Program, which means I work 40+ hour weeks. That leaves little time for me to write. But with what time I do have, I promise to focus on this story.
Without further ado, I give you the first chapter of my new fic, Roses are Red, Will Power is Green.
Prologue
The universe. Infinite. He once told me that it was split into 3600 sectors. I'm still having trouble comprehending that. How do you split something so... endless into such a small number? I can still remember the way he laughed and tapped my forehead when I voiced that thought.
'It's best not to dwell on that too long.'
Easy for him to say! Normal people don't have to think about it. Hell, normal people don't know that there are sectors let alone a specific number. I guess I don't fall under the normal category, not anymore at least. The word normal is used to describe individuals who aren't dating a Green Lantern. Better yet, individuals who aren't dating The Greatest Green Lantern in all 3600 sectors.
You know, this is why parents tell their daughters not to accept drinks from strangers at bars. He could have been some kind of rapist, or into kinky shit, or a superhero.
Heh. The last one was the last one I would have expected.
But how could I say no to his cocky grin? Or those over-confident brown eyes?
How does one say no to Hal Jordan?
I guess that falls under the 'best not to dwell on' category.
I need to start listening better.
A/N: Well, there you have it, my hopefully successful re-entry into writing. It's going to be a lot different than anything else I've put up here. It's going to be deeper and longer and extremely thought out. Their relationship is going to be complicated, even without any focus on Hal being a Green Lantern. I'm not leaving it out, far from it. Rather, I'm focusing on developing Hal post-Rebirth into a long-term relationship as well as developing my character into his normal life before developing her life into his superhero life.
It's officially too late for me to still be awake, I'm rambling. Thank you guys for putting up with me. I can't wait to read your reviews.
