A / N : Drabble for the newest contest on xoxLewrahxox's Forum.
Prompt: Write a drabble featuring a character/ship that you despise. This is NOT an opportunity for character/ship bashing. Instead it should be a serious attempt to portray the hated character(s) in a positive light.
I don't despise Percy, but there aren't really any characters in HP I actually hate. There are, however, quite a few I find monumentally boring outside the books, and wouldn't usually read fanfiction about, let alone write from their POV. So - here is Percy, who has to be the most priggish and boring of the Weasleys, when someone isn't making fun of him. And I feel almost guilty for saying that now, which goes to show, the challenge may have worked a little too well. ;) Let me know what you think, please, and which side of the fence (Percy fan or not) you're coming from, as this is my first time writing him and I'm curious about what people will make of it.
(If it isn't clear, this is set while Percy isn't speaking to his family.)
It is Christmas morning, just after dawn. Errol flops onto his desk, soaked with snow, and starts to peck at the last cold remnants of a mince pie.
Percy swallows.
She must have sent this after midnight. In secret, maybe.
He can feel it, even through the paper. Thick, soft . . . cable-knit, this year. He wonders about the colour, the message it bears.
Errol hoots weakly.
Spy, he imagines. Fool.
Traitor.
It's what they think of him. It is.
He casts Errol out and slams the window, smoothing the front of his Ministry robes.
They're wrong. They're all wrong.
