Wade and Peter had been dating for almost a year now and they couldn't be any happier. Aunt May had finally met Wade, despite the consent paranoia coming from the scared mercenary. And both men knew about each others alter egos, which certainly made things easier when one of them came home tired and beat up. It also helped explain why those injuries healed faster than normal.
And it definitely came in handy when Wade got a call from an unknown number.
"Taco Bell, only place where you'll get taco Hell, how can I help you?" Wade answered.
"Wade?"
Wades breath caught in his throat, "Hey baby boy. You okay? What's up?" Wade heard shuffling on the other line before hearing Peters voice again
"I'm just a little tied up at the moment" Wade could hear Peter softly chuckle at his own joke, "Could you come to the facility building on 79th and Eagle?" Peter asked.
"Course." Wade answered a little warily, "What's going on?" Wade asked.
The line went quiet for a few more seconds before Wade could've sworn he heard someone else talking
"Pete? Is something wrong?" Wade asked again, this time more on edge.
The phone fizzled a little before a different voice spoke, "Fifteen million or we get a new lab rat"
Wade was about to give a quick retort, but the line went dead.
Wade froze.
That did not just happen.
Working as fast as he could, Wade did his best to remember the address Peter had given him. Grabbing an extra gun, Wade stashed the weapon in a hidden compartment in his costume as he raced out the window of his and Peter's shared apartment.
Shifting to his side to face his, now safe, boyfriend, Wade recalled how terrified he had been when he saw Peter laying there on the table with his side cut open. He remembered how long it took to stitch the wound together and how scared he was when Peters eyes slowly closed.
Moving his arms, Wade snaked his hands around his boyfriends body, tugging him closer.
Peter unconsciously shifted his body so that he too was facing the inside of the bed.
"I promise no one will ever hurt you again" Wade whispered.
Taking in a sleepy breath, Peter responded "I love you"
