Prompt #285 (Trait) Frugal
Lips twitching, "You have always complained on how frugal is whenever he treats you anywhere. How you wish that he would just take wild chance and spend some money on a real date for once." Leaning his arms against the counter top as he cleaned into the fake wood. "But; when Betty does the exact same thing ... you find it enduring."
"Yeah so." Veronica sighed as she eagled eyed Reggie across from her.
"Don't you find it a little hypocritical to lash out at Archie and not Betty for doing the exact same thing?" Reggie shrugged his shoulders. "I mean if you hold a person to something; but don't hold another person to the same thing ... then where does that get you?"
"Shut up!" Veronica growled low in her throat.
"All I am saying is that both Archie and Betty are in the same living bracket as one another; and you expect Archie to go broke for you ... but you expect Betty to save her money." Reggie straightned once more. "I mean I know you are in love with Betty ... and you want to protect her. But Archie is your friend after all. Don't you want him to be protected also? Meaning let him live the life that he was born into. Working and saving for the future. To protect the future ... not to spend all his money and have nothing left for tomorrow."
Veronica swallowed as she realized what she had done. "You are right Reggie. I have treated Archie shamefully." Her cheeks redden in embarrassment.
"Just as long as you aren't going to marry Archie Andrews ... then I'm fine with opening your heart and soul to the matter." Reggie nodded seriously. "I'm not always the biggest fan of Andrews ... but he does have to live the life that he was born into. To him saving money; and not always spending tons of it is just t he way he lives it."
Veroncia sighed deeply. "I get it. Thanks Reggie." She nodded.
Reggie shrugged. "By the way don't tell Archie what I said." He looked seriously into her eyes. "I mean it Ronnie. It would just embarrass him. Just treat him better and then all will be good."
Veroncia nodded; she knew that Reggie was right. If she did bring this up to Archie; then Archie would truly feel ashamsed with how he was born. She didn't want to twist anything in the ginger haired young man's soul after all. She would show him that she didn't really think money was all that mattered to her. That he was important to her just the way he was.
Reggie nodded as she started to walk towards the stairs that led up to the door of the club. He did his good deed by Archie Andrews for the decade. Hopefully he wouldn't have to do another one for another decade. After all Archie was his main rival in life after all. He had to keep the status quo up, and all.
