***DISCLAIMER: As much as I wish I did, I did not create these characters. The Prefects schedule I read about in another story, but I can't find the story to give them credit. The Fact remains that the Prefect schedule is NOT my idea.
"Come on James," coaxed Lily Evans, as she gently elbowed the handsome, messy-haired boy who lay on the ground beside her.
James just groaned and squeezed his hazel eyes shut. "Come on James, the Prefects Meeting is tonight, so we can't delay this any further".
" You know Lily, somehow I don't think the Prefects would mind not having to do patrol tonight."
"Yeah, but that means that we would have to."
"Come on Evans, you love doing duty with me! Just admit it."
Lily Evans used to hate James Potter. His constant badgering, asking her to go out with him had driven her to wits end and back, until she eventually screamed at him in a shouting match that should have gone down in Hogwarts history (and resulted in Lily getting her first ever detention).
Since they had both been made Heads, Lily had been forced to spend time with him. He was hardworking, something she never expected. She knew he did well in school, but had always dismissed it as luck. Well, that was before learning that he actually did study (when no one was watching). He wasn't as arrogant as she had thought either, and actually found him to be rather nice. Slowly but surely she found him not becoming the bane of her existence, and rather started to enjoy spending time with him. James grew up a bit and quit asking her out, so for now, they were friends.
Lily laughed, a captivating ring of bells, "Well, I don't hate you yet, but I may if you're the reason I have to do duty tonight." She replied.
"Fine." James groaned, grudgingly hoisting himself up. He pulled the blank sheet of Parchment towards them.
"Okay," said Lily, all business. "We'll do Slytherin patrol on Monday, and Ravenclaw on Tuesday."
"Nope, Ravenclaw has a Quidditch game on Saturday, and Jones is on the team."
"Right so Slytherin Monday- What?" she asked looking at James shaking his head.
"Avery has tutoring. Personally I find it shocking that he even is a Prefect."
"I agree. Did you hear what he did to Amos Diggory last week?" Lily asked. James nodded, " I visited him in the hospital wing to find out who hexed him. Okay, back to this dratted schedule, Huffelpuff can't because they are playing against Ravenclaw on Saturday, so Gryffindor will have to do it."
This time it was Lily's turn to shake her head. " The full moon is on Tuesday. You know how hard it is the day before the transformation."
"Remus, right… this is impossible!" cried James throwing the parchment on the ground, and leaning back.
Lily tried to each around him, for the quill and parchment, but James held them away from her. "Evans, you need to take it easy every once in a while", he told her. She reached further until her face was inches form his, and she was holding on the quill and parchment, and tugged not expecting him to let go. He didn't disappoint.
She didn't know what made her do it, but suddenly she leaned in, pressing her soft lips against his. The moment they touched, it was as if a fire was lit over the surface of her skin. She felt him freeze in shock and pulled away her hand clutching the parchment and quill.
Hazel met Green.
"Okay so-" began Lily awkwardly.
James just stared.
" Oh whatever!" said Lily tossing the parchment aside.
She leaned in, slowly once more pressing her lips against his, smiling as fireworks erupted in her stomach. She felt the blood coursing through her veins, as their lips seemed to fuse together.
James pulled away, smiling as she looked up at him. "I knew you loved me Evans." Then leaning forward he whispered, " Somehow I don't mind doing patrol, tonight or Monday," before his lips were back on hers.
Somehow, Lily Evans found that she didn't mind either.
