Satisfaction

It was a funny poke of irony on the behalf of the Lord Almighty that Julian Lazarey, to most simply known as Mr. Sark, was genuinely happy and satisfied on how his life had turned out. Never in his wildest dreams, could he have imagined that he would be able to find love and personal peace during his lifetime.

All those years of working for the bad side had groomed him as a silent deadly assassin and becoming a contented family man had not been in the cards in any shape or form. But when she had entered his life, he had seen the error of his ways and because of their child, he had changed. He had left the life of high crime behind him in a heartbeat to nurture his precious baby girl, being the father he had never had during his formative years.

Now four years later, watching his daughter playing with her favorite pink teddy bear on the sunny backyard of their spacious California home brought him the best kind of satisfaction no amount of money could bring.

"My darlings, come inside, I've finished dinner," said the voice belonging to his wife Lauren Reed, who was standing in the lanai barefoot and wearing one of his shirts and a pair of jeans with her honey-blonde hair swirling in the mild wind of late January. She looked completely devoid of glamour and in his eyes she was the most beautiful thing ever. She had been the wife of his enemy and at first she had been a conquest and nothing more. Another woman who brought pleasure to his life without forcing him to commit to her. But in the end she had not been the notch in his bedpost that he had envisioned. He had broken his rule and had hopelessly fallen in love with a woman who could match him in passion and intensity.

Julian signed contently and went to his daughter's side and scooped her gently into his arms. She looked at him with her wide-eyed blue eyes, that mirrored his own. She was the perfect blend of her parents and giggled slightly as her father kissed her rosy cheek. She was perfection and satisfaction personified, so it had not been a hard thing to select a name for his girl. Satine Juliana Lazarey, and it hadn't come from the female lead in Moulin Rouge but instead a play on the word satisfaction that now showed in every aspect of his life. Lauren and Satine; his reason of being alive and satisfied today. He carried his daughter inside and gave a silent thank you towards the heavens; he had certainly done something amazing to be rewarded like this.

The End.
