A poem by Hawkeye, the last day of the war…
Happily Ever After
Happily ever after
I think not
We'll never escape
This ugliness is here to stay
Burned onto our brains
Like the fire that tears apart this
Already torn country
Every time we close our eyes
We'll see the blood
The hate
The horror
The blood of innocence
Stains us through
As the visions of war
Invade our thoughts
The most private area of our minds
Will be violated
Does it every really end
Even if we've won
But did we win
Did anyone
With all the losses all have suffered
There is no winner
No one on top
So happily ever after
I think not
***The End***
